Why didn't this new story make the news

Why didn't this new story make the news?
Engine shutdown caused Northwest collision By David Kaminski-Morrow US investigators have concluded that a Northwest Airlines crew's decision to shut down the left engine on a taxiing McDonnell Douglas DC-9, leaving it with no hydraulic pressure after the right-side system had failed, resulted in its colliding with an Airbus A319 at Minneapolis. The DC-9 (N763NC) had suffered a valve fracture that caused the loss of right-side hydraulic pressure, a situation that the crew noticed as the aircraft climbed out of Columbus on a domestic service to Northwest's Minneapolis/St Paul hub on 10 May 2005. While the pilots carried out in-flight procedures to deal with a loss of right-side pressure, the captain became increasingly convinced, later in the flight, that the apparent pressure loss was a false indication. This view was reinforced by the normal lowering of the landing gear. Emergency teams at Minneapolis were nevertheless put on standby as the aircraft approached. © Cyprus Cambata The Northwest Airlines DC-9 collided with an Airbus A319 on pushback The DC-9 touched down safely on runway 22 and the landing roll appeared to be normal, with brakes and reverse-thrust operating, and the aircraft exited the runway to taxi to gate G7. Just over 5min after touchdown the flight recorders detected the shutting down of the aircraft's left-hand Pratt & Whitney JT8D engine - a technique employed to save fuel during ground manoeuvring - although the National Transportation Safety Board says the captain "did not recall" doing so. The first officer later stated that he did not know that the engine had been stopped and that the captain had not mentioned it. Upon nearing the gate the crew discovered they were suddenly unable to steer or brake the DC-9, and they activated the thrust reversers, which also stopped functioning within a short time and the aircraft began rolling forward. The aircraft was travelling at around 14kt (25km/h) when it struck the wing of a Northwest A319 (N368NB) on pushback from gate G10. Both aircraft were subsequently evacuated, with eight occupants injured among the total of 145 on board the two. The DC-9 was transporting 94 passengers, the A319 had 39 on board.

Good Question! I think it didn't beacause needed morke kick to it .
2 :
funny...looks like a news report your quoting...why didn't it get wider coverage?...because it's no big deal...I'm really sorry for the 8 folks that received injuries...otherwise...so what?... little inconvience...nothing more...
3 :
who knows, i would say that they might no of wanted to scare people, but that is not the case with the news these days! umm some news just doesn’t get out as fast... they might of though it wasn’t that big of a deal. it might just be the news stations you have... it could of also been asked to keep it quiet!...the news runs of people actually finding out about this stuff! so if they don’t hear about it in time to report it... it wont come on... same with newspapers...if its not written and edited read by the time its good to print, i wont make it on.... as i assume you got this info from the internet....its easy to update things on the internet! its always going
4 :
Apparently, it did make the news. You seem to have found it twice.
5 :
Sorry... but it seems you have copied a NEWS report... so it DID make the news !! Why not CNN ? Well SHUCKS, they can't cover EVERY car, train, or aircraft accident !! It isn't what the FAA calls a Class-A accident (loss of AC or life)... so it isn't national news. Heck, the US Navy ran a helicopter over a maintanece crewman in Atsugi Japan on 13 April 1990 and it never made the news other than in his home-town as a death-notice.
6 :
I'll have to agree with other answers that it did make the news... You found at least two news reports on the incident. As for why it didn't make the 6 o'clock TV news... Does every local automobile accident make the national news? No one died, and only eight out of 145 passengers were even injured. What's newsworthy about that?

Who is The Most Influential Man in History

Who is The Most Influential Man in History ?
The following is from Michael Hart's book and lists Prophet Muhammad as the most influential man in History. A Citadel Press Book, published by Carol Publishing Group Ranking of the twenty from the list of 100: Prophet Muhammad Isaac Newton Jesus Christ Buddha Confucius St. Paul Ts'ai Lun Johann Gutenberg Christopher Columbus Albert Einstein Karl Marx Louis Pasteur Galileo Galilei Aristotle Lenin Moses Charles Darwin Shih Huang Ti Augustus Caesar Mao Tse-tung -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MUHAMMAD, No. 1 The 100, a Ranking of the Most Influential Persons in History by Michael H. Hart My choice of Muhammad to lead the list of the world's most influential persons may surprise some readers and may be questioned by others, but he was the only man in history who was supremely successful on both the religious and secular levels. Of humble origins, Muhammad founded and promulgated one of the world's great religions, and became an immensely effective political leader. Today, thirteen centuries after his death, his influence is still powerful and pervasive. The majority of the persons in this book had the advantage of being born and raised in centers of civilization, highly cultured or politically pivotal nations. Muhammad, however, was born in the year 570, in the city of Mecca, in southern Arabia, at that time a backward area of the world, far from the centers of trade, art, and learning. Orphaned at age six, he was reared in modest surroundings. Islamic tradition tells us that he was illiterate. His economic position improved when, at age twenty-five, he married a wealthy widow. Nevertheless, as he approached forty, there was little outward indication that he was a remarkable person. Most Arabs at that time were pagans, who believed in many gods. There were, however, in Mecca, a small number of Jews and Christians; it was from them no doubt that Muhammad first learned of a single, omnipotent God who ruled the entire universe. When he was forty years old, Muhammad became convinced that this one true God (Allah) was speaking to him, and had chosen him to spread the true faith. For three years, Muhammad preached only to close friends and associates. Then, about 613, he began preaching in public. As he slowly gained converts, the Meccan authorities came to consider him a dangerous nuisance. In 622, fearing for his safety, Muhammad fled to Medina (a city some 200 miles north of Mecca), where he had been offered a position of considerable political power. This flight, called the Hegira, was the turning point of the Prophet's life. In Mecca, he had had few followers. In Medina, he had many more, and he soon acquired an influence that made him a virtual dictator. During the next few years, while Muhammad's following grew rapidly, a series of battles were fought between Medina and Mecca. This was ended in 630 with Muhammad's triumphant return to Mecca as conqueror. The remaining two and one-half years of his life witnessed the rapid conversion of the Arab tribes to the new religion. When Muhammad died, in 632, he was the effective ruler of all of southern Arabia. The Bedouin tribesmen of Arabia had a reputation as fierce warriors. But their number was small; and plagued by disunity and internecine warfare, they had been no match for the larger armies of the kingdoms in the settled agricultural areas to the north. However, unified by Muhammad for the first time in history, and inspired by their fervent belief in the one true God, these small Arab armies now embarked upon one of the most astonishing series of conquests in human history. To the northeast of Arabia lay the large Neo-Persian Empire of the Sassanids; to the northwest lay the Byzantine, or Eastern Roman Empire, centered in Constantinople. Numerically, the Arabs were no match for their opponents. On the field of battle, though, the inspired Arabs rapidly conquered all of Mesopotamia, Syria, and Palestine. By 642, Egypt had been wrested from the Byzantine Empire, while the Persian armies had been crushed at the key battles of Qadisiya in 637, and Nehavend in 642. But even these enormous conquests, which were made under the leadership of Muhammad's close friends and immediate successors, Ali, Abu Bakr and 'Umar ibn al-Khattab, did not mark the end of the Arab advance. By 711, the Arab armies had swept completely across North Africa to the Atlantic Ocean There they turned north and, crossing the Strait of Gibraltar, overwhelmed the Visigothic kingdom in Spain. For a while, it must have seemed that the Moslems would overwhelm all of Christian Europe. However, in 732, at the famous Battle of Tours, a Moslem army, which had advanced into the center of France, was at last defeated by the Franks. Nevertheless, in a scant century of fighting, these Bedouin tribesmen, inspired by the word of the Prophet, had carved out an empire stretching from the borders of India to the Atlantic Ocean-the largest empire that the world had yet seen. And everywhere that the armies conquered, large-scale conversion to the new faith eventually followed. Now, not all of these conquests proved permanent. The Persians, though they have remained faithful to the religion of the Prophet, have since regained their independence from the Arabs. And in Spain, more than seven centuries of warfare, finally resulted in the Christians reconquering the entire peninsula. However, Mesopotamia and Egypt, the two cradles of ancient civilization, have remained Moslem, as has the entire coast of North Africa. The new religion, of course, continued to spread, in the intervening centuries, far beyond the borders of the original Moslem conquests. Currently it has tens of millions of adherents in Africa and Central Asia and even more in Pakistan and northern India, and in Indonesia. In Indonesia, the new faith has been a unifying factor. In the Indian subcontinent, however, the conflict between Moslems and Hindus is still a major obstacle to unity. How, then, is one to assess the overall impact of Muhammad on human history? Like all religions, Islam exerts an enormous influence upon the lives of its followers. It is for this reason that the founders of the world's great religions all figure prominently in this book. Since there are roughly twice as many Christians as Moslems in the world, it may initially seem strange that Muhammad has been ranked higher than Jesus. There are two principal reasons for that decision. First, Muhammad played a far more important role in the development of Islam than Jesus did in the development of Christianity. Although Jesus was responsible for the main ethical and moral precepts of Christianity (insofar as these differed from Judaism), St. Paul was the main developer of Christian theology, its principal proselytizer, and the author of a large portion of the New Testament. Muhammad, however, was responsible for both the theology of Islam and its main ethical and moral principles. In addition, he played the key role in proselytizing the new faith, and in establishing the religious practices of Islam. Moreover, he is the author of the Moslem holy scriptures, the Koran, a collection of certain of Muhammad's insights that he believed had been directly revealed to him by Allah. Most of these utterances were copied more or less faithfully during Muhammad's lifetime and were collected together in authoritative form not long after his death. The Koran therefore, closely represents Muhammad's ideas and teachings and to a considerable extent his exact words. No such detailed compilation of the teachings of Christ has survived. Since the Koran is at least as important to Moslems as the Bible is to Christians, the influence of Muhammad through the medium of the Koran has been enormous. It is probable that the relative influence of Muhammad on Islam has been larger than the combined influence of Jesus Christ and St. Paul on Christianity. On the purely religious level, then, it seems likely that Muhammad has been as influential in human history as Jesus. Furthermore, Muhammad (unlike Jesus) was a secular as well as a religious leader. In fact, as the driving force behind the Arab conquests, he may well rank as the most influential political leader of all time. Of many important historical events, one might say that they were inevitable and would have occurred even without the particular political leader who guided them. For example, the South American colonies would probably have won their independence from Spain even if Simon Bolivar had never lived. But this cannot be said of the Arab conquests. Nothing similar had occurred before Muhammad, and there is no reason to believe that the conquests would have been achieved without him. The only comparable conquests in human history are those of the Mongols in the thirteenth century, which were primarily due to the influence of Genghis Khan. These conquests, however, though more extensive than those of the Arabs, did not prove permanent, and today the only areas occupied by the Mongols are those that they held prior to the time of Genghis Khan. It is far different with the conquests of the Arabs. From Iraq to Morocco, there extends a whole chain of Moslem nations united not merely by their faith in Islam, but also by their Arabic language, history, and culture. The centrality of the Koran in the Moslem religion and the fact that it is written in Arabic have probably prevented the Arab language from breaking up into mutually unintelligible dialects, which might otherwise have occurred in the intervening thirteen centuries. Differences and divisions between these Arab states exist, of course, and they are considerable, but the partial disunity should not blind us to the important elements of unity that have continued to exist. For instance, neither Iran nor Indonesia, both oil-producing states and both Islamic in religion joined in the oil embargo of the winter of 1973-74. It is no coincidence that all of the Arab states, and only the Arab states, participated in the embargo. We see, then, that the Arab conquests of the seventh century have continued to play an important role in human history, down to the present day. It is this unparalleled combination of secular and religious influence which I feel entitles Muhammad to be considered the most influential single figure in human history. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The following is from Michael Hart's book and lists Prophet Muhammad as the most influential man in History. the most influential person in history to me would have to be Jesus the Christ. the reason being is ibelieve and know by faith that to save oneself is impossible. even to live a rightous life is not possible without being reborn. i don't believe mohammed taugt any doctrine including rebirth only that you must live rightously in Allah's eyes. being reborn is real. i was raised a seventh day adventist. i've studied oriental philosophy and i believe God speaks to people throughout history in ways they can understand Him. the bottom line to me is we cannot be saved or truly live a rightous life without being reborn thank you for the question. t5

Grog of the Cave Bear Clan was dubbed "most influential man in history" by the elders of the Tribe in 56,563 BC for his creation of the concept of gods, goddesses, angels, devils, heaven and hell...to keep the members of his tribe in line......and the world has never been the same since.
8 :
Your question contains in itself the right answer: Muhammad, the Holy Prophet, is the most influential person in history. May God bless him, and may God bless all of us, and may there be peace in the world--now and forever.
9 :
Jesus Christ bestrides History like a Colossus. All of history is forever divided into "Before Christ" and "Anno Domini". His credentials as a Religious Leader are without equal - he went to his death willingly to die for humanity. The originality of his revelations are so extraordinary as to come close to proving their divine origin. No religion on the Planet at that time had the concept of the Creator as a loving father ready to be born as a man to die on our behalf. This was so radical the original name for the Bible was simply "the Good News". Mohammed probably belongs in the top three for the reasons noted above but by comparison, the Koran is plaigarised from Jewish and Christian scriptures. There is very little new material there, and arguably it was designed as propaganda to unite the Arab tribes into the Army of Conquest that he needed to carve out a temporal Empire in Arabia. It is the self-serving nature of his creed that makes it most likely that he just made it up as a justification for his position of Dictator, and for his tribe's pre-eminence in his new World order - Arabs replacing Jews as the chosen people. By stealing the central tenets of Judaism, more so than Christianity, he turned back the clock to a pre-Christian vision of worthless humans struggling to obey the Laws of God. It's no co-incidence that the precepts of Shariya law are almost identical to Talmudic law. Islam has many worthy features as a Religion, but all the best bits were stolen from earlier ones. For this reason Jesus Christ is in a league all by himself - unlike Mohammed, He told us things we did not already know, and he clearly had no hidden agenda for personal advancement. His life fulfilled the prophecies of the Old Testament Prphets in a convincing way. The only one who predicted Mohammed was Jesus Himself: "And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many." Islam's major effect on humanity has been as a conqueror and oppressor of formerly free peoples. Even today it is used to justify everything from oppression of Women to any act of murder of terror against non-muslims, or even against members of different muslim sects.

Do they show movies on Southwest Airlines flights?
I'm flying from Columbus to Las Vegas nonstop and didn't know if I should plan on bringing a book along with me.

no. southwest is crappy anyway.
2 :
When does the movie start? The airline doesn't offer inflight movies. On Southwest Airlines, we encourage our young travelers to bring onboard any Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved portable electronic device such as a portable DVD player and enjoy the movie of their choice through the comfort of their personal headphones. The flight attendants will make an announcement during the flight about when it's okay to bring out the device and begin the movie!
3 :
No, there are no movies or any other inflight entertainment onboard other then a Skymall or Spirit magazine to read. They don't spend big bucks on amenities like that so they can keep fares low and customers pocketbooks happy.

American Airline from Europe to US

American Airline from Europe to US?
Okay, so, in August I am going to fly from London to the US and back. Now I found that American Airlines is pretty much the best way to go and I looked online for a flight. I found one, but there is this one thing that I don't understand. Since I can't post the link to show you, how my flight back looks like, I am going to try to write it: From Columbus to London 1. Flight: Monday 31. August 2009 Departure: 06:10 PM Columbus Arrival: 06:35 PM Chicago 2. Flight: Monday 31. August 2009 Departure: 08:15 PM Chicago Arrival: 10:00 AM [i] London So, my question is for the 2. flight, where I posted the [i], it states that I am going to be arriving one day later. So does that mean, that I am going to arrive in London on 10:00 AM on the 1st of September??

When any airline shows their flight details, it is always given in that country's or area's local time zone. So What you are saying is right, your flight back from the states to the UK will arrive at 1000 am on the 1st of September. Kind Regards
2 :
You definitely will arrive on Sept. 1. London is 6 hrs. ahead of Chicago time, so when you depart Chicago at 8:15 PM it will already be 2:15 AM on the 1st in London and it looks like your flight will take 7 hrs. and 45 min..

Map it online. Pull up a map, and map it or even get a paper map and use the scale to determine distance. Ok, both of you are adults. You can’t figure out how to buy a plane ticket? Go to any major flight website: Continentle, Southwest, Delta or US Airways. You could also use Orbitz or Expedia. You put in the day you want to fly out and come home on, each location, how many tickets you want and you can pick your flight times. It isn’t complicated. If that is too complicated for you, call the airlines directly to purchase over the phone. You can even rent your car at the same time online. I would expect two adults to know how to do this. Seriously.

I believe the air port is about 10 miles from the front gate at Fort Benning.
6 :
Put it this way: you drive out the front gate of Fort Benning and you're in Columbus. The I-185 runs south from Atlanta through Columbus and ends in Fort Benning. The Columbus Airport is off exit 8, therefore, it's 8 miles from Fort Benning. For hotels, we stayed in the holiday inn off Exit 10, it was very nice. If you want to be close to post, the Holiday inn off Victory Dr in Cplumbus is literally right outside the front gate and less then 10 min from where the bct graduations are held. Good luck! p.s. It's a straight shot down 85/185 from Atlanta down to Benning.... It's not a hard drive, just long, worth it if the tickets are much cheaper
7 :
The front gate for Fort Benning is a 15-20 minute drive from the Columbus Airport. It's approximately 90 minutes or so from the Atlanta Airport. The vast majority of Soldiers stationed at Fort Benning ride to Atlanta to fly home because a connecting flight from Atlanta (where you'll change planes at) to Columbus could add at least $200-$300 on average to your flight cost. This is compared to you being able to take a bus from there for around $50. Nine times out of ten, it's faster to drive from Atlanta to Columbus than it is to wait the amount of time you would have to wait for your connecting flight.

It is really easy. Just select "Multi-Destination". Enter "Origin"-DTW as first destination and then on the second row the CMH-Detroit.

there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely give you the best prices available. check out the website BookMe and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it's very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.

I am looking for the leaving on April 25th and returning on April 27th. I am leaning toward Skybus, because so far my total is $156 with taxes and fees. But that is from CHO(columbus) to CHA(Chattanooga) which I would PREFER to fly out of Dayton. I would just have 1 carry on bag going with me too, so I wouldn't have to check that, right? All other Airlines I have looked at are double or more in cost. Can you find a better deal than me? If so, 10 points for you! Thanks :o)

I'm flying Southwest Airlines from CMH - TPA next week and I'd like some tips

I'm flying Southwest Airlines from CMH - TPA next week and I'd like some tips?
I'm flying flight 448 from Port-Columbus Airport to Tampa International next Tuesday the 30th. I check the weather periodically, well. At least, twice a day. I'm a FREAK when it comes to things running smoothly. Keep in mind, I'm 13. I think I'm going to have high blood pressure when I grow up. Anyways, back to my story. The weather in Columbus, says partly cloudy. Either that, or just cloudy. It keeps jumping back & forth, and it looks like that's the weather that's going to stay. I'm very worried, for some odd reason, my flight will be cancelled? Even though rain is not in the main forecast. Link: http://www.accuweather.com/us/oh/columbus/43085/forecast-month.asp It's just really bothering me. I want everything to go smoothly, I'd be highly disappointed if our flight was cancelled. There are in fact 2 flights after mine though.. I've never flown Southwest Airlines. I've read that they cancel flights a lot more than other airlines. Also - the open seating boarding process.. I don't know where I want to sit, but I want to know ahead of time, thanks to seatexpert.com. I want to sit on the LEFT side. If you are facing the bulkhead. I want the very last seat, I don't even care about all the disadvantages, (smell, non-recline, traffic etc..) I just like the back seat for some reason. But I don't know. This happens so much before I fly. All & all, does anyone have any feedback or tips for me? It'd be really nice to hear someone's advice. Thanks so much, Connor.

You're flight won't be canceled due to weather. It is spring, and weather flight cancellations aren't typical. Don't worry. Make sure you are at the computer exactly 24 hours before departure time to ensure that you get "A" boarding, meaning you will be among the first 50 people to board. There, you have almost a 100% chance of getting the seat you want. I've flown Southwest a lot, and I have never really had a problem. Have a great trip! P.S: I'm flying Southwest next week too
2 :
You'll be fine. I have flown in hail, rain, 14 inches of snow, lightning, old Russian aircraft. The boarding process is a mess though. Make sure to check in online so you get a good number (A or above) in the boarding process.

Cheapest flight to Vegas

Cheapest flight to Vegas!?
Where can I find a cheap ticket to Vegas, from Columbus Ohio? Trip is around end of July (peak time). Thanks Sorry, I meant flight ticket!

vegas makes most of their money on gamblin. give any hotel a call, they will hook you up.

You looking for Hotel/Air? or Just Air? Email me at galaxytravel@verizon.net
3 :
I use AOL travel service. Start now the farther you book in advance the cheaper your flight.
4 :
Try Kayak.com this site will search the internet and find all the prices out there and lets you choose who to fly with. Also look at farecast.com this site will chart (most flights) and let you know if they believe the price will go up or down in the next week. US New and Reports did a resent survey on 49 flights and found that on the best deal they saved $149 and on the worst deal was $16 more. At least you will know if you are getting the best deal possible. And if you don't mind the exact times or and particular airline you can always use priceline.com and bid on your flight. I have done this a few times when my schedule was flexible. I saved over 50% on two tickets. You may or may not get them at half off but you certainly can try. Although the down side is if you bid and they are excepted the tickets are yours and no refunds. The current price for a round trip ticket to vegas from ohio (CMH) is $330, farecast says to wait that it believes it will go down. Range in the last 58 days has been as lo as $166 per ticket. You may not get that low but expect less than $330 Good luck and have fun Glenn

Which airlines would be the cheapest to travel by or which website would give me the cheapest flights?

The ones I always try for ticket prices are www.orbitz.com www.expedia.com www.cheaptickets.com www.southwest.com You can also try www.priceline.com (I have never had much luck, but you might, wouldn't hurt to try) If there are other large cities near you, or near your destination, you might want to try looking at flying into them, too. I know for me if I fly from Knoxville TN, it is a lot more expensive than if I go from Atlanta GA or Nashville TN, so try some other options as well. try a different # of days, too, sometimes if you leave a day earlier, come back a day later, or whatever that changes the price. Good luck to you, and sorry for your loss
2 :
Go to a travel agent, they can hook u up.
3 :
Whenever you need to find a last minute flight: 1) www.expedia.com 2) Find out if one the airports is a hub. In your case, go to www.alaskaairlines.com because Alaska's hub is Seattle.

How can I find the CHEAPEST flights

How can I find the CHEAPEST flights?
I am planning a roundtrip for the weekend of May 8-11 to Columbus, OH from Houston, TX. I am looking for 2 tickets under $200 a piece. Where can I find deals like this? What website or airline is the best to use?

You must consider http://cheapflightcenter.co.uk or http://flightsrusuk.com i really find them the cheapest and the most reliable.
2 :
I'm trying to find tickets for the same weekend to Vegas. I have AirTran vouchers, but they won't let me use them that weekend. However, I've been noticing that the prices are going up. I would suggest looking at all the major webistes (Travelocity, Ortbitz, Expedia, etc) and booking something soon. They're only going to get more expensive as you get closer to the date. Good luck!
3 :
It is hard to find tickets for less than $200. A lot of airlines have specials right now, but I can never seem to find that "$69" rate that they advertise. Usually trips to/from Houston on Southwest aren't too expensive from this area. Southwest's rates to Columbus from Houston right now are $139 each way. This is a total of $634.80 for 2 tickets which is over $300 each. http://southwest.com/cgi-bin/showOrPrice On Airtran, they have tickets for $114 to Columbus and $104 returning to Houston. This is a total of $517.80 for 2 people, which is about $260 each. https://tickets.airtran.com/Confirm.aspx On booking buddy, they show rates for all other airlines. The lowest one they have on Farecast.com is the airtran flight above. On Cheapoair.com, there is a flight for $180.99, but they charge a lot of fees so the total is $521.80 for 2. It's stupid https://www.cheapoair.com/Default.aspx?tabid=1687&t=f&cid=58&sid=1 Continental has flights from $218 round trip per person. And after taxes the total is only $475.40! That's only $238.50 each. https://www.continental.com/web/en-US/apps/booking/flight/reviewRevenue.aspx?SID=8203F82F87E74CB5986292C202C368D0&sg=4&sgk=17935/11/2009
4 :
I would recommend Southwest since they fly out of Columbus. Also see how much airline tickets cost on Continental. You can fly non-stop from Columbus into Houston's Intercontinental/George Bush Airport.
5 :
Howdy! Unfortunately, even with the failing economy, air fare still seems to be pricey. However I usually find the cheapest tickets anywhere between 2AM and 5AM. Also, Wednesdays are a good time to look too for some reason...maybe because it's the middle of the week and not as busy. You might want to look for flights that depart on Wednesdays as well. Another thing you might want to try, is searching for good deals online. Some sites do promotions for different companies at certain times and can offer discounts. I'm always on the lookout for cheap travel, so send me an e-mail if you find anything worth while. Hope I helped and good luck! Rock on!

Should I book with online travel site or is it cheaper to book flight and hotel yourself

Should I book with online travel site or is it cheaper to book flight and hotel yourself??? ?
My wife and I are planning our first vacation/late honeymoon to Mexico this October....our passports are ready to go just so you know. We've done our homework and totaled many vacations on travel websites(cheapcarribean, apple, hotwire etc.), but all of them are about the same price when totaled up. So what is the best and cheapest way to book our vacation. I've read on trip advisor booking the flight and hotel separate can be much cheaper is this true. Some websites offer 4 nights fight/hotel all inclusive for $499...but that is if you fly out of Miami, we will fly out of either Cinn., Dayton or Columbus Ohio...please help!!!!

Hello, Send me an email at Buckscountytravel@gmail.com and i will get you all the infomation you will need to get a great price.
2 :
There is no easy answer to your question. Either a package or booking separately might be cheaper depending on the circumstances. Booking as a package is often cheaper because the company offering the package may have a wholesale deal with your favorite hotel. That means that they can obtain rooms cheaper than you can because they commit to buying many rooms. However, it may be cheaper to book separately if website A has a lower airfare but website B has a deal with the hotel that gives them a lower price. If you haven't already done so, try Expedia or Travelocity. They commonly have discounts for booking as a package, although not for every hotel. Since you've researched several websites, it should be relatively easy to do some comparisons. If the prices are all about the same, regardless of whether it's a package or separate, then just book the package. It's easier. If one website has a lower airfare and another has a lower hotel rate, then just book them separately. As you can see, finding the best deal is not always easy. It often takes a lot of work!
3 :
not sure about packages but for hotels the best site i know of is http://www.discounthotel-s.info. the site is an aggregator affiliated with hotels. com which means it searches other sites and presents you with the best deals available. my office uses it for corporate travel. good luck and i hope this helps!

Was Flight 19; [Bermuda Triangle] Ever Found

Was Flight 19; [Bermuda Triangle] Ever Found?
ive heard that flight 19 was found; and along with other disappearances in the Bermuda Triangle; Some people are saying theyre just theories or its a just a paranormal activity or w/e. Is flight 19 actually found? or is it still a mystery? && what causes so many mysteries in just the Bermuda Triangle? Theories i found: ome authors suggested it may be due to a strange magnetic anomaly that affects compass readings (in fact they claim Columbus noted this when he sailed through the area in 1492). Others theorize that methane eruptions from the ocean floor may suddenly be turning the sea into a froth that can't support a ship's weight so it sinks (though there is no evidence of this type of thing happening in the Triangle for the past 15,000 years). Several books have gone as far as conjecturing that the disappearances are due to an intelligent, technologically advanced race living in space or under the sea.

The aircraft have never been found, but that's not unusual for aircraft lost at sea. No supernatural explanation is required for this incident. In all likelihood, the pilots became confused and got lost, and eventually ditched their aircraft when they ran out of fuel. They were neither the first nor the last to die this way, and incidents of this type have happened everywhere in the world, not just in the Bermuda Triangle.

How is the plane like on american airlines

How is the plane like on american airlines.?
In a month im going to Italy and Greece. First, i'm going from Columbus airport(CMH) to Chicago(ORD). Then from chicago i'm going to London(LHR).Has anyone else gone on a flight like this? Also, do each have there own screen? Its not that important I just want to know ahead of time. I know that the plane might not be similar but it might be.

I have been on a flight like this to Paris, France. I went from Los Angeles, to Chicago, to NYC. From there we went to London then finally Paris France. Long flight. I rode with Delta Airlines on that trip but usually I fly with AA. I really like American, its not that big of a plane, well at least the ones I have rode which have been a lot. I fly all the time. I fly from RDU to do LAX almost every summer with American Airlines and they are comfortable and have a really good staff.

smelly and old
3 :
The service on American is average. It is nothing special so I would not have high expectations. I would expect a personal in-flight entertainment system for the ORD-LHR route. You can verify on http://www.seatguru.com. There will be no in-flight entertainment on the CMH-ORD route. It will most likely be operated by a regional jet.

Can I skip my first flight and just get on the connecting flight instead

Can I skip my first flight and just get on the connecting flight instead?
I was looking at purchasing a plane ticket from Columbus, OH to Portland, OR on Delta. There is a connecting flight in Cincinnati (CVG) - where I live. I would be driving to Columbus to fly back to Cincinnati to get on the plane to Portland. Would I be able to just skip the first flight and get on the connector to save myself the drive? CVG is the MOST expensive airport to fly out of in the entire US. Including Alaska & Hawaii. It's ridiculous. Avg. ticket price is over $500. It's half as much to fly out of CMH.

The Short answer is "NO"! The more complicated answer is, maybe, but it's a big gamble. When a passenger "no shows" an originating flight, the airline assumes the passenger is not traveling that itinerary and cancels ALL down-line flights (including the return flights if it was the outbound originating flight you didn't fly on). This is usually done automatically by the computer reservations system. Once in a while, if you show up for the connecting flight, you MIGHT be able to sweet talk the gate agent (assuming they even let you through security at the airport) into letting you on the flight. This is getting harder to do, as carriers tighten up the rules. I don't recommend chancing it. (I'm a retired Delta reservations employee, BTW).
2 :
I think you should be able to just book the flight Cincinnati to Portland without booking the other flight. At least my understanding of connecting flights is that they're actually separate flights, but you just book them together for convenience.

4 hours driving. At least, that's what mapquest says but sometimes they're directions are really weird so it could be a little more or less than that. And I'm not sure about direct flights, I searched www.nwa.com and they came up with flight listings, but then I checked a box on the search bar that said "non-stop only" and they said there was nothing available. I would double-check on that though. Good luck!

connecting flights & luggage transfer

connecting flights & luggage transfer?
When i was flying from ohio to Milan i only checked my bags once, on the way back i had to retrieve my bag at the chicago air port and recheck it. The second time i flew to Milan i did not have to recheck it. Now i am soon leaving to go to Columbus, Ohio-connecting flight in frankfurt, Germany and Philadelphia. Will i have to retrieve my luggage and re-check it at either of these places like i did in chicago? (i was traveling with another person these previous flights so i didnt have to worry about it, now i am all alone and my biggest fear will be losing my luggage)
Air Travel - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
You have to retrieve your luggage in US airports because of security measures after 9/11. In European airports this is not the case. But if you are still worried, just double-check with the check-in agent.
2 :
When you are checking in, ask the ticket agent in your original departure city if your bags are being checked in all the way through to your final destination. You'll probably be on two different airlines, but if those airlines are in codeshares (partnerships), then your bags can be checked through all the way to your final destination. However, the time you had to claim your bags in Chicago, you were on a non-codeshare airline reservation. That just means that the airlines can only check your bags as far as their codeshare goes and if you are continuing on, then you have to recheck your bags in. So just make sure you ask them where your bags are being tagged to. Also, make sure they give you boarding passes for all segments of your trip. If they don't give you all of your boarding passes, that will be another clue that you are going to be on an different airline and you may have to claim your bags somewhere during your trip. But asking the first checkin agent will answer all of these questions!
3 :
I dont think so but u could ask some 1 who works at the airport
4 :
Yes. You will not need to recheck the bags from Columbus to Philadelphia, or from Philadelphia to Frankfurt. But, if you have a connecting flight in Frankfurt, you will need to recheck your bags.

"The President is doing nothing about the oil spill in the gulf". "The President is doing too much". Which is it? Or don't you know? Or don't you really care?
11 :
Cause he is Obama Fuck. He can do whatever the hell he wants what pisses me off. He likes wasting peoples money
12 :
Because he just can't fly to big fires, oil spills and make surprise visits to Afghanistan and Iraq. He needs to fly everywhere and be seen and heard by the people. If he doesn't then it just shows he doesn't give a rats assss about anything but the "job loss" and the crap Bush got us into. Plus he can't just book a flight on United Airlines even if United donated the airplane for FREE. It wouldn't pass safety inspections of Air Force One. I am not trying to be a dick, I am just being honest with you. I watched a show on Discovery HD about the President and all the Presidents who fly on AIr Force one and all the safety and tracking devices it has on it. Plus United or other airlines can't re-fuel up in the air and like I said the safety of AIr Force one is like flying with GOD himself.
13 :
For God sakes, why do Republicans obsess over the cost of a flight? Zillions of flights criss-cross America every moment of the day. It's hardly the horse and buggy days. What's the guy supposed to do, walk to Columbus from DC? And provide a link saying those workers were denied a day's pay because Obama visited.
14 :
So if he flies to the Gulf for a day....it's ok...but if he flies anywhere else in the country for a day.....you go nuts?
15 :
He spoke for 20 minutes that day. People clapped. It's all about the clapping. If Michelle and his daughters would just clap for him when he talks at home this country could save hundreds of millions of dollars.
16 :
So he could get his daily "face time" on TV / and spout some propaganda about how teachers will all lose their jobs without him.
17 :
And how many times did Bush use Air Force one to "jet over" to Iraq to present our troops with a plastic turkey? You didn't seem to *worried* about how much those trips cost American taxpayers. So why complain now?
18 :
Because he loves flying and partying high o the taxpayers money, besides he likes the Golf course there, as he sure does not like working for us, or solving our problems

The best prices from Columbus, OH to Maldives is $1,528 for November 13 - November 23, 2007. My fiance and I are hoping for something cheaper. Any suggestions on specific airlines or flight search sites would be appreciated. Thanks.

If your airport offer Alligaint flights, they are so worth taking. Noboby comes close to there prices 49$ to maybe 79$ a person . Look in to it , I booked with them for a flights in June, less then 800.00 $ for 4 people to fly, from NC to FL. Check into this, I hope ithelps you out, we all know how it fell to be in a finical bind.

how long is the flight from ohio to spain?
columbus ohio to barcelona spain no layovers
Air Travel - 2 Answers

1 :
It depends on how you are flying and how long is the duration of the layover. I am guessing that you will first fly to a major airport like JFK or Chicago or Newark. From either of these airports plan on spending at least 8-9 hours to Barcelona. Add the time of layover and then the time from Columbus to your Barcelona-bound flight. Have a great trip -- I loved every minute of being in Barcelona.
2 :
No airline in the world flies nonstop from Columbus to Barcelona, so unless you own your own private jet, yes, you will need to change planes somewhere. You can find out exactly how long various flights will take by going to orbitz.com or a similar website, and entering your cities and dates (or just picking dates at random).

What would the cost be to visit the UK?
I'm looking to visit a friend who lives in Manchester, England. I currently live in Columbus, Ohio. I did some searches for flight prices and everything and can't really seem to find anything. I'm not too great at internet searches. I was wondering if anyone had an idea how much I should save up for for a week long stay in Manchester at a hotel? Including flight time, transportation, and hotel rate. Thanks a lot.

there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely give you the best prices available. check out the website BookMe and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it's very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.

Stewart to NYC....easiest way

Stewart to NYC....easiest way?
With Skybus announcing flight service from Columbus to Stewart, NY I was wondering what the easiest method for getting into the city would be? I understand there is a metro north train that goes to Grand Central.....can you buy one of those 1 day subway passes to catch this train to Grand Central, or is that a completely seperate entity?
New York City - 5 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Not sure what your question is. The metro north is a train not a subway. You can buy a ticket on the train to Grand Central. You can buy subway passes in Grand Central when you get there. I hope I answered your question.)
2 :
There is no public transportation at Stewart. You would have to rent a car or take a taxi to Poughkeepsie or Cornwall to get on either Amtrak or Metro North.
3 :
From Stewart airport you can catch the shuttle bus run by Leprechaun Bus Lines for $1. It will take you to the Beacon Metro North Station where you can catch the train to Grand Central. You cannot use a metro card for the train...you need to buy a ticket which you can pay for with a metro card if there is a balance on it. www.leprechaunlines.com http://www.stewartintlairport.com/groundtrans.html
4 :
No. Metro-North is separate from the subway, and considerably more expensive. As of several years ago: Some Metro-North stations sell tickets. At the stations that have a person selling tickets, you can pay with cash or credit card. Some stations either do not sell tickets or have only a vending machine (which does not take checks). Tickets can also be purchased on the train. On the train, they take cash and checks (but might not take credit cards). If you board at a station that has a human ticket seller on duty, but do not buy a ticket before you board the train, you pay an extra charge for buying the ticket on the train instead of at the station. If you board at a station that does not sell tickets, this charge does not apply.
5 :
Get a cab and ask to go to the Short Line Bus terminal in Newburgh...not that far from Stewart. From there you can take a bus down (Short Line/Coach USA) to Port Authority (41st Street & 8th Avenue) in New York City. Fare is $18.75

I want to be a flight attendant

I want to be a flight attendant?
I live in mansfield, OH. which is just shy of an hour drive from Port Columbus Int. airport. What airlines are hiring that i live close enough without relocating to get a job
Air Travel - 3 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
You can go to the airport's website and look at the airlines which fly there. Then you can go to the airline's website to find out if they are hiring. Most airlines are not hiring right now as the economy is still weak. Also there are no airlines that have a major hub in Columbus so it would be hard to be based in that city. You have a better chance if you were based out of Cleveland or Cincinnati.
2 :
Well, a flight attendant is not a 9-5 job that you can come home to at night. Your best bet at getting started in the business is looking at smaller regional airlines like Expressjet, American Eagle, ASA, Comair, Chataqua, and Pinnacle. Those airlines fly for the bigger airlines. The big legacy airlines and airlines like Southwest are either not hiring or they are letting flight attendants go. The first several years of being a flight attendant are not glorious as the TV shows make them seem. You're on "reserve" status. That means that you'll spend your four scheduled days sitting around either at the airport or a "crash pad (apartment shared by up to 12 flight attendants)" waiting for a call to pick up a line for vacation relief, delays, or call outs. When you're finally senior enough to get a schedule of your own that you can keep, then you can start thinking about commuting to work on your work days and flying back home on your off days. Salary wise, you're not looking at much. If you work for a small airline, or even a larger airline, don't expect to make more than $20 - $30 thousand your first few years. Your pay is by the flight hour. On reserve, you're guaranteed a minimum of 75 hours and most times you don't even make that. So needless to say, it's not a job you want to make your main source of income. Before you start thinking about the glamor and the traveling, think about all the aggravation that goes along with it. Sure, it can be a very fun job, but it's not a job that's made for everyone. Just do your research and make sure you know all the negatives as well. It's a tough field out there, so make sure your resume is sharp and you have lots of customer service experience!

Your only choices for being based at CMH are Chautauqua Airlines (part of Republic Airways), and Mesa Airlines. Here's an article that should help answer some of your questions. Let me know if I can help more. Tim Kirkwood Author, The Flight Attendant Job Finder & Career Guide Have you ever dreamed of flying to exotic places or foreign cities? Or perhaps have a desire to see more of the USA or Canada? If so, then you should consider the career as an airline flight attendant. There are over eighty scheduled, regional and charter airlines in the US and Canada, and they are in need of qualified applicants the year round. Since the tragic events of September 11, 2001 the "Major" airlines had not been hiring, and some had furloughed their current flight attendants. The prospects of getting hired by a Major were relatively slim until recently, but it is now getting better. But the Majors are only 10% of the airlines operating in the US and Canada. The other 90% include the mid-size airlines, regional and commuter carriers and charter airlines. These airlines continue to need and hire flight attendants on their flights. In addition, the fastest growing sector of aviation is the corporate or executive jet Flight Attendant employment opportunities. These luxurious private and corporate aircraft cater to a high-end clientele, and require professionally trained flight attendants as well. If you think you must be a young fashion-model type to be considered for this much sought-after job, you would be mistaken. Airlines today are looking for women and men between the ages of eighteen to sixty, who have the desire to travel and work with people. This broader acceptance of applicants opens the career up to persons who had never considered themselves qualified. It also, therefore, increases the competition for potential applicants. Every airline has a different set of requirements, and some will even look for the characteristics of the region in which they fly. A high-school diploma or GED is a must, so if you're in school now, STAY IN SCHOOL. If you have quit or dropped out, it's never too late to go back and get your diploma. For all airlines, it is a requirement for employment. Additional schooling, which can improve your chances of acceptance, includes sociology, psychology, history, geography, and foreign languages. Nearly all airlines will train you as a part of the hiring process, even if you've worked for another airline, or attended one of the expensive airline "schools". I recommend you look for an inexpensive local community college or adult education course that offers class in Travel & Tourism, or an introduction to the Flight Attendant Career, such as the one offered by Cypress College (http://votech.cypresscollege.edu/~atc/). Most airlines set height requirements to correspond with the size of the aircraft they operate. Too tall, and you're bumping your head on the ceiling. Too short, and you may not be able to reach the overhead compartments. If you're between 5' and 6', you'll be within the range the airlines are looking for. Weight restrictions have come under fire lately, brought on by lawsuits against the impossibly strict standards set decades ago. The phrase you will hear now is "weight must be in proportion to height". Being in good physical condition is important, as the job can be physically demanding. Combine unusual hours, time zone changes, strange hotel rooms and the dry atmosphere of the airplane, and you have the making of physical exhaustion. Applicants are tested for drug use when hired and then randomly after that for the rest of their career. Even if you are using illegal drugs on a sporadic or "recreational" basis, you must quit now. You can also be alcohol tested throughout your career, as drinking is not permitted at anytime while on duty or in uniform. The traveling public has the general impression that flight attendants are on board the airplane simply to serve food and coffee. The Federal Aviation Administration, a government organization that oversees aviation safety, sees it completely different. Their role is to ensure that the flying public is safe when they fly, and requires flight attendants on board to provide assistance in flight, and to get the passengers out of the aircraft in an emergency. You will learn basic first-aid, CPR, fire-fighting techniques as part of your training. In fact, the majority of training you will receive will have more to do with safety, than how to pour a glass of wine. What is it then, which makes this job one of the most sought-after in America and Canada? Flexibility, variety, and travel are the top three reasons. Flexibility. Most people work all week, with perhaps one or two days off over the weekend. Most receive one to two weeks of vacation per year. As a flight attendant, you have the ability to group your flights together in a given month, and have 1-2 weeks off ev

you need to look at cheaptickets.com or travelocity trip advisor may be able to help you with a comparison
2 :
Belive it or not the Disney reservation line got me the cheapest airfare last year. I had hit all the travel web sites and knew the lowest fare I could get and Disney found one that was even lower. Check out all the travel web sites and the airline's web sites too. It just takes time to do the research. If you find a low deal. book it. it may not be there next time you look.
3 :
If you can get there, also try Southwest out of Cleveland. Meanwhile, check out this site for first-time visitors to Walt Disney World: http://yourfirstvisit.net/ Good luck, Dave!
4 :
Southwest also flies out of Columbus. If you buy early enough you will get good fares. Look into flying into Tampa as well. It's about an hour away, an easy drive. You can also fly into one city and out of the other, most rental car companies will not surcharge you.
5 :
Search, search and search the Airlines website everyday if you will...I just got back from Disney This past 29th. I got my airlines tickets from AA it gave me the best deals but check airlinetickets.com,travelocity and compare if you need tickets for any park you need to go see this people off 192 2 blocks east of Shoneys it has a big balloon outside if you want the number i can give it to you...they gave 5 tickets for $230 al i had to do was take an 1:30 tour which gave me $100 cash and lunch..it's worthy so i end up paying $130 for five people!!! to go to the Magic Kingdom....I hope this helps ..take care

How can I find a person from my flight

How can I find a person from my flight?
Hello. Over the past weekend, I flew from Atlanta to Columbus (Ohio) and from Columbus to Atlanta through Airtran. I flew out of ATL on 10-16 and out of Columbus on 10-18-09...both evening flight. By chance, a handsome man was on both of my flights. We said hi and exchanged many looks and smiles. I was very intrigued by him and really wished I would have gotten his name/ number. I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a way I could get his name from the airline. He was the only person who was the same on my returning and departing flight. I really want to speak to him. He left his book at the airport and I grabbed it meaning to give it to him. I had to run to by connecting flight and was unable to do so. I was thinking that if I went to the airport and explained that he needed the book back, they may be able to give me his contact info. If you know if I can get this info. or if you know who this person is, let me know. The man was in his 20's and tall. Thanks!

Will they cancel a plane ticket if

Will they cancel a plane ticket if.....?
I had to come home for family emergency and had a round trip ticket from Delta. Flew from Dubai to Columbus, Ga. I then drove to Ohio to take care of business. I'm due to fly out on the 12th from Columbus, Ga back to Dubai. I need to buy a plane ticket on the 12th from Ohio to Columbus, Ga but one of the stops is in Atlanta then finish in Columbus. I wanted to just stay at the airport in Atlanta instead of going all the way to Columbus then checking back in just to go back to Atlanta. I was told if I didn't make the first flight out of Columbus that Delta would just cancel my whole entire ticket back to Dubai because I missed that one flight. Is it true? I really think its pointless and someone on standby can probably use that seat. Thanks.

Yep. If you miss the first leg all subsequent legs are cancelled. You could try calling the airline with a sob story, but don't hold your breath waiting for a good outcome.
2 :
what no way you should see your or ring your place of purchase they will dirct you from there hense i think you should see or ring your flight airlines you will go with.
3 :
yep if you miss the first leg of your flight the whole ticket will be cancelled as the airline will think that you are a no show. You could contact the airline and explain the situation to them and see what they say but get everything in writing as even if you are told it will be ok not everything gets communicated to the airport staff and if that is the case you wont be able to fly.
4 :
Unfortunately, it is true. But you can pay the fine if you really want them to change your itinerary. I think it will cost you 150.

Should I wait to book my flight

Should I wait to book my flight?
I'm flying from Columbus, OH (CMH) to Orlando (MCO) on December 24th and returning on the 28th. I found 2 roundtrip flights with Frontier & Midwest for the same price....$225.29/person round-trip. This was quite a bit cheaper than everything else. Since I'll be traveling during the holiday season, should I wait to book or should I grab this one while it's still there? Any chance either of these airlines might go under and leave me stranded? Any advice? Thanks.
Air Travel - 4 Answers

Really? Thats strange! It doesnt usualy let you book a flight until 6 months before! You've got 11 months! I think you should wait! Because plans can change and you never know what will happend! We never book a flight earlier then 2 months in advance! Just be patient and wait! It's only February! Who knows whats gonna happend till December!
2 :
The sooner the cheaper. I was gonna book a flight with southwest on a fri, but just waited till mon and it went from 99 129, but that was only 3 weeks before the flight. But you have awhile before you have to decide. Three-four months in advance should be fine and still cheap.
3 :
I would buy the tickets immediately. That is a pretty good price to pay to fly during Christmas. As for the airlines going bankrupt, anything can happen but I do not see that happening for these 2 airlines. Traffic is starting to pick up as the country slowly recovers from the recession. Therefore I think you should be fine. I would also pay for the tickets via credit card as well. It may protect you a bit more than if you paid for the tickets in cash or with a personal check.
4 :
Most air carriers release seats 330 days prior. $225.29 is not a bad price during the holiday season. If you know you will need to make that trip, I would go ahead and book it. The price may come down slightly in the next few months before it goes back up again, but I don't foresee it getting too much cheaper. Also, Frontier and Midwest are now part of Republic Airlines, an airline holding company that has many regional airlines along with Frontier and Midwest.

Without checking I would say that it's doubtful you could fly direct, so if you have to fly via New York or similar East coast international airport, you can expect the flight time to that airport plus probably 7 hours to Madrid.
2 :
There are no non-stop flights. You'll have to connect in either New York or Boston. The total travel time (including CMH-BOS/JFK-MAD) is about 11-12 hours. Have a great trip!

I need help with a flight to Vegas from Ohio for a weekend coming soon. Please see details below. Thanks!!!!!
I want to fly to Las Vegas leaving on a Friday and coming back on a Monday. I would like to fly out of either Columbus, Ohio, Cincinnati, Ohio or Huntington, WV airports. I need a roundtrip flight only for 2 adults. I would like to go anytime from now till the end of May. It doesn't matter if it is non-stop or not. I have never been to Vegas. Check Yahoo Travel. Also, it is easier to book your flight through Akron-Canton Regional Airport- they have nonstop flights and they are slightly cheaper!! My hubby and I are booking a trip in March for the 2 nd time. It is a lot cheaper to stay through the week than on the weekend. Also, if there is a major convention in town, rooms are more expensive. Make sure you check out the fountains at Bellagio, the show at Treasure Island and the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay. Back to the flights, we prefer non stop flights b/c with the weather, you never know how long your lay over may take!! Hope this helps!!
3 :
I would use Southwest Airlines out of Columbus. They often offer round trip tickets from Columbus to Las Vegas for as little as $69 each way.. I believe that is your best bet.. So before taxes you and a friend can fly for a total of $276 plus taxes.. $139 ea.

I could give you some quotes and book it for you if you like. If not, I can email my website to you and you could check on your own. The site checks up to 200 other sites and comes back with the best rates. Email me if you need more help.

My husband and I go to Las Vegas at least once per year. We're also from Ohio - we usually fly out of Cleveland, but this summer, we're going to try Akron-Canton. The best bang for our buck has been through www.funjet.com. They offer great rates, the option to buy transfers to and from the hotel from the airport, and the option to buy show and event tickets. I highly recommend the site. You'll have a wide variety of flights and hotels to choose from (check out TripAdvisor.com for recommendations). We've stayed at NYNY a few times - LOVED IT; Luxor - okay, but too far south on the strip; and next time we go we're trying MGM Grand. All of the hotels offer a variety of dining, nightclubs, and entertainment. The choice really depends on your preferences. We usually go in December and June. June is warmer, but (I know you'll understand since you're from Ohio) December really isn't too bad either. A lot of people gave us funny looks for wearing shorts last December, but we were comfortable. The only downfall to going in December is that a lot of the shows break for the holidays. Have a great trip!
6 :
Before you plan, check the convention schedule. if its a major week or weekend where we have conventions of over 60,000 people, you will see room rates sky rocket.

The lowest price for a ticket from Port Columbus, Ohio (CMH) to Port Bouet Airport, Abidjan (ABJ) is around 1665 USD return, whilst the average price is in the region of 1880 USD. A single price is more expensive than a return with an average of around 2169 USD. Many of the flights have a stop at Brussels, Belgium, after having first had a stop/change of aircraft at one of a variety of airports including Washington Dulles (IAD), Chicago O'Hare (ORD), Toronto-Pearson (YYZ), Newark (EWR), New York La Guardia (LGA). There are other flights where the stops are at John F. Kennedy New York (JFK) & Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) or Atlanta-Hartsfield (ATL) & Accra, Nigeria (ACC). The quickest flight appears to be with US Airways from Port Columbus to NY La Guardia (LGA) and then Delta to Paris (CDG), with the final leg also with Delta from Paris to Abidjan. The total duration of this flight is 19hrs 50mins, whilst many of the other combinations are nearer, and in some cases above, 30hrs.
