Bermuda Triangle Speech - first reactions/response

Bermuda Triangle Speech - first reactions/response?
Warning: long read, yet easy to respond. HI!, i have a speech in a few weeks and i have an outline prepared as well as a beginning but not a real sturdy idea of where i want it to go. so i want to put up an outline and tell you a bit of my beginning so if you guys can offer any opinions on my work (and not the triangle itself) or any other ideas that might better my work please please contribute :) thanks so very much, anything is appreciated! side note: keep in mind this speech should be 5mins, and that it has to be exciting and captivating.. rough outline: 1. The Bermuda Triangle, Intro. -First documented by Christopher Columbus -Other sources (location, some facts like mile coverage etc.) 2. Why is it so controversial? -(includes: Coast Guards point of view, that the Us Navy doesnt officially recognize it, and that everything dissappears generally without a trace!) 3. Famous Stories -unsolved ones ( Flight 19,USS cyclops, Connemar IV, S.S Cotopari) -ones that were never really related to the bermuda but believed to be (Marie Celeste..[any others?] 4. Myth/Superstitious explanations -Atlantis -Aliens [others?] 5. Scientific explanations -compass readings (true and magnetic north) -Methane hydrates -Gulf Stream -Freak Storms/Waves/Hurricanes 5. Quick conclusion that circles around something like "no matter what...the triangle will always be a mystery..etc etc." thats the outline, please provide any input if you can in areas with [brackets] now for the beginning which is super not ready =) : October 11, 1492; the famous Christopher Columbus and his crew, who are sailing through the Atlantic [valid info? was it the Atlantic? i'm 99.9% sure?] report seeing strange lights that hover, and later move up and down. He also reported that his compass readings were askew and that though in shallow waters, no land was in sight. And so ends the first ever documented report of the Bermuda Triangle. Now to provide a background......(jump into outline) yes thats my beginning, i want to capture the audience and i didnt know how else to do so. please offer any other ideas if you have! THANKSS :) 10pts, and immense gratitude to best anwser ofcourse ^-^

Drive from Ohio to Texas. . or fly

Drive from Ohio to Texas. . or fly?
Okay. So me and my boyfriend want to go to Houston, TX in April. . . Well we have to fly b/c we live in Ohio and thats just to far to drive, right? Thats like 2000 miles away. Okay we don't have a problem at all getting hotels and flights. . . but he's 19 and I'm 18. How are we supposed to get around if we dont drive, I mean is there any rental cars that will rent ta 19 yo's? I don't really know any alternitives I mean we have enough money to cover flight and hotel and food and alll that good stuff but I dont think we can afford cab fares every where we go for a week. . lol yah know. Would driving be cheaper then flying it would suck bad but we would have a car and http://www.fuelcostcalculator.com/ says that gas from Columbus to houston would be around 300. It was right on my last trip to Florida but I dont know. Round trip tickets for both of us would be 800. I perfer flying but do not know what to do about the car!!! Gr. Can any one give me any advice on this? Thanks Well we drove to Florida and it was fun but loooong. And I say it was about 20 hours in its self. Texas looks kinda far away lol. and no I dont drive yet =\ I am hoping that I will be before April. I know that Alamo will rent to 21 and his brother and his g/f might be going and they are 21 BUT they have a 1 year old son and Im not counting on them going for sure.. yah know. And we are going to Houston b/c thats where Wrestlemania is going to be this year. .

The drive isn't that bad. About 18-20 hours total. If you go by way of Memphis you could stop there half way thru and check out the town which is pretty nice. I assume you both drive so it wouldn't be too bad if you did it that way.
2 :
Well to rent a car, you must be 25 and have a credit card to put it on. Flying would be really fast, but driving would be a lot of fun also. It would be fun to stay over in a hotel, and look at everything as you are driving. Me and my friend drove to VA beach from cleveland and it was lots of fun. So driving is the best option i think!
3 :
well with Gas going up and down it could be more than 300 dollars, you have to 25 to rent a car, but why would you want to go to Houston i mean i live an hour from Houston, its fun an all but its not that great and the closest beach here is Galveston and its not that great either. But I perfer flying but its up to you

Does the fact that there were no attempted terrorist attacks while Bush was President make Obama like bad

Does the fact that there were no attempted terrorist attacks while Bush was President make Obama like bad?
With the exception of 9/11 because that was an actual terrorist attack and I guess you can't count these: Richard Reid, December 2001. A British citizen and self-professed follower of Osama bin Laden, Reid hid explosives inside his shoes before boarding a flight from Paris to Miami and attempted to light the fuse with a match. If detonated, the explosives would have damaged the plane. Reid was caught in the act and apprehended on board the plane by the flight attendants and passengers. FBI officials took Reid into custody after the plane made an emergency landing at Boston's Logan International Airport. In 2003, Reid was found guilty on charges of terrorism, and a U.S. federal court sentenced him to life imprisonment. Jose Padilla, May 2002. U.S. officials arrested Padilla in May 2002 at O'Hare Airport in Chicago as he returned to the United States from Pakistan. He was initially charging as an enemy combatant and for planning to use a "dirty bomb" (an explosive laced with radioactive material) in an attack against America.[5] Prior to his conviction, Padilla brought a case against the federal government claiming that he had been denied the right of habeas corpus (the right of an individual to petition against unlawful imprisonment). In a 5-4 decision, the U.S. Supreme Court found that the case against him had been filed improperly. In 2005, the government indicted Padilla for conspiring with Islamic terrorist groups. In August 2007, Padilla was found guilty by a civilian jury after a three-month trial. He was later sentenced by the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida to 17 years and four months in prison. Lackawanna Six, September 2002. When the FBI arrested Sahim Alwan, Yahya Goba, Yasein Taher, Faysal Galab, Shafal Mosed, and Mukhtar al-Bakri, the press dubbed them the "Lackawanna Six," the "Buffalo Six," or the "Buffalo Cell." Five of the six had been born and raised in Lackawanna, New York. These six American citizens of Yemeni descent were arrested for conspiring with terrorist groups. They had stated that they were going to Pakistan to attend a religious training camp, but instead attended an al-Qaeda jihadist camp. All six pleaded guilty in 2003 to providing support to al-Qaeda. Goba and al-Bakri were sentenced to 10 years in prison, Taher and Mosed to eight years, Alwan to seven and a half years, and Galab to seven years. Iyman Faris, May 2003. Faris is a naturalized U.S. citizen originally from Kashmir and lived in Columbus, Ohio. He was arrested for conspiring to use blowtorches to collapse the Brooklyn Bridge. The New York City Police Department learned of the plot and increased police surveillance around the bridge. Faced with the additional security, Faris and his superiors decided to cancel the attack. Faris pleaded guilty to conspiracy and providing material support to al-Qaeda and was later sentenced in federal district court to 20 years, the maximum allowed under his plea agreement. Virginia Jihad Network, June 2003. In Alexandria, Virginia, 11 men were arrested for weapons counts and for violating the Neutrality Acts, which prohibit U.S. citizens and residents from attacking countries with which the United States is at peace. Four of the 11 men pleaded guilty. Upon further investigation, the remaining seven were indicated on additional charges of conspiring to support terrorist organizations. They were found to have connections with al-Qaeda, the Taliban, and Lashkar-i-Taiba, a terrorist organization that targets the Indian government. The authorities stated that the Virginia men had used paintball games to train and prepare for battle. The group had also acquired surveillance and night vision equipment and wireless video cameras. Ali al-Timimi, the spiritual leader of the group, was found guilty of soliciting individuals to assault the United States and sentenced to life in prison. Ali Asad Chandia received 15 years for supporting Lashkar-i-Taiba, but maintains his innocence. Randoll Todd Royer, Ibrahim al-Hamdi, Yong Ki Kwon, Khwaja Mahmood Hasan, Muhammed Aatique, and Donald T. Surratt pleaded guilty and were sentenced to prison terms. Masoud Khan, Seifullah Chapman, and Hammad Adur-Raheem were found guilty at trial and later sentenced. Dhiren Barot, August 2004. Members of a terrorist cell led by Dhiren Barot were arrested for plotting to attack the New York Stock Exchange and other financial institutions in New York, Washington, and Newark, New Jersey. They were later accused of planning attacks in England. The plots included a "memorable black day of terror" that would have included detonating a dirty bomb. A July 2004 police raid on Barot's house in Pakistan discovered a number of incriminating files on a laptop computer, including instructions for building car bombs. Dhiren Barot pleaded guilty and was convicted in the United Kingdom for conspiracy to to commit mass murder and sentenced to 40 years. However, in May 2007, his se James Elshafay and Shahawar Matin Siraj, August 2004. James Elshafay and Shahawar Matin Siraj were arrested for plotting to bomb a subway station near Madison Square Garden in New York City before the Republican National Convention.[20] An undercover detective from New York City Police Department's Intelligence Division infiltrated the group, providing information to authorities, and later testified against Elshafay and Siraj.[21] Siraj was convicted and sentenced to 30 years in prison. Elshafay, a U.S. citizen, pleaded guilty and received a lighter, five-year sentence for testifying against his co-conspirator.[22] Levar Haley Washington, Gregory Vernon Patterson, Hammad Riaz Samana, and Kevin James, August 2005. The members of the group were arrested in Los Angeles and charged with conspiring to attack National Guard facilities, synagogues, and other targets in the Los Angeles area. Michael C. Reynolds, December 2005. Michael C. Reynolds was arrested by the FBI and charged with involvement in a plot to blow up a Wyoming natural gas refinery; the Transcontinental Pipeline, a natural-gas pipeline from the Gulf Coast to New York and New Jersey; and a Standard Oil refinery in New Jersey.[29] He was arrested while trying to pick up a $40,000 payment for planning the attack.[30] Shannen Rossmiller, his purported contact, was a Montana judge who was working with the FBI. The FBI later found explosives in a storage locker in Reynolds's hometown of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Narseal Batiste, Patrick Abraham, Stanley Grant Phanor, Naudimar Herrera, Burson Augustin, Lyglenson Lemorin, and Rotschild Augustine, June 2006. Seven men were arrested in Miami and Atlanta for plotting to blow up the Sears Tower in Chicago, followed by FBI offices and other government buildings around the country. The arrests resulted from an investigation involving an FBI informant. Assem Hammoud, July 2006.Conducting online surveillance of chat rooms, the FBI discovered a plot to attack underground transit links between New York City and New Jersey. Eight suspects including Assem Hammoud, an al-Qaeda loyalist living in Lebanon, were arrested for plotting to bomb New York City train tunnels. Fort Dix Plot, May 2007. Six men were arrested in a plot to attack Fort Dix, a U.S. Army base in New Jersey. The plan involved using assault rifles and grenades to attack and kill soldiers. Five of the alleged conspirators had conducted training missions in the nearby Pocono Mountains. The sixth helped to obtain weapons. The arrests were made after a 16-month FBI operation that included infiltrating the group. JFK Airport Plot, June 2007. Four men plotted to blow up "aviation fuel tanks and pipelines at the John F. Kennedy International Airport" in New York City. Synagogue Terror Plot, May 2009. On May 20, 2009, the New York Police Department announced the arrest of James Cromite, David Williams, Onta Williams, and Laguerre Payen for plotting to blow up area Jewish centers and shoot down planes at a nearby Air National Guard Base.

Well, that drivel was a waste of time. Nobody said that there wasn't an attempt.. But Bush didn't have incompetent political hacks in security positions, and none of his appointees would have said the system worked when it clearly did not.

Terrorists do seem to try to attack the US on a regular basis. I think the D.C. sniper shootings would count as an act of terrorism as well.

edit my paper? please

edit my paper? please?
PLEASE CHECK DIALOUGE...IT MIGHT GET MESSED UP B/C OF YAHOO ANSWERS FORMATTING BUT PLEASE CHECK CAPITALIZATION ETC. BTW IM IN 7TH GRADE...THIS PAPER IS not PERFECT! The trees and houses rolled past, but this wasn’t the Chicago I remembered. The pilot’s voice came over the crackly intercom. “Ladies and gentlemen,” he began, “I’m sorry to inform you that there’ been storms spotted in the Chicago area. We’ve chosen to land in Columbus, Ohio instead.” He went on with the weather report and time, but I didn’t pay much attention. I was too anxious to get off the plane, which smelled like Grandma’s house. The seats were scratchy and the kid behind me must’ve broken his leg kicking my chair, so I didn’t care that we weren’t going to Chicago. However, my mind changed when I learned that not reaching our original destination meant not getting our luggage until we arrived there. That meant it could be up to a week until I got to wear fresh clothes, brush my hair, or even sleep with my teddy bear again. My parents didn’t know what to do, so we trudged over to a Burger King and thought things over. My parents had a total seventeen dollars and twenty-five cents after our meal at Burger King. Seventeen dollars wouldn’t last three people for 3 days, let alone a week. We called my grandparents, who we were going to Chicago to see. They that that they couldn’t even get out of their house because the storms, sleet, and snow was so bad. I watched as the skinny blonde ladies hurried past with their miniature dogs, while the businessmen sauntered on, talking on their earpieces. There were few passengers from the flight we had just walked off of because many were all traveling on to a further destination. We looked around hopelessly at the passengers arriving, departing, and eating. I was watching an old man slurp his chili with the when a young lady approached us. “Were you on the flight?” she questioned. “The one that didn’t make it to Chicago?” My parents nodded with a worried expression. “Oh I’m sorry. It must be awful without money. No food, no clothes…” her voice wandered off. She continued, “Who knows when you’ll get all your luggage back? Tell you what. I’ve been in this situation before, and it’s not fun. These twenty dollars,” she held up a crisp bill “were going towards new shoes. But you’re obviously in a lot more trouble than my sore feet. Take it.” And with that, she walked away. My parents and I stared after her in disbelief. “Well,” spoke my mother, cautiously, “Now we have just over thirty-seven dollars. We’ll get three sufficient meals a day and split them.” Little did we know that we wouldn’t be stuck there for long. My grandfather called us the next morning around eight thirty. We had slept on the seats at gate G 12, where we had departed from the plane. He had told us that he would be able to drive over, but it would take at least another day because of icy roads and traffic. While we waited, my father and I raced around on the moving walkways, tracked the arrivals and departures, and looked at all the passengers anxiously waiting. There weren’t any other passengers from our flight because they had all been picked up by friends or relatives.

We’ve chosen to land in Columbus, Ohio instead.” Delete the comma The seats were scratchy and the kid behind me must’ve broken his leg kicking my chair, so I didn’t care that we weren’t going to Chicago. Use must have and not a contraction. "They that that they couldn’t even get out of their house because the storms, sleet, and snow was so bad." Double word They that that... because they had all been picked up by friends or relatives. Change to: because friends or relatives had picked them all up. That's all I could spot, and that is an excellent writing for 7th grade!

Anyone else stranded by Skybus

Anyone else stranded by Skybus?
Does anyone know of anyone else stranded mid-trip due to the stunt they pulled today? I drove an hour past the real airport to catch a flying fundraiser all the way to columbus oh from greensboro NC. I then drive two hours to Cincinnati and feel very proud of myself. Flight, rental car, gas and hotel all cost under 200 bucks. Meanwhile my "stupid" friends pay over 600 bucks because "they don't trust the 10 dollar plane." "you will probably have to pedal on a bike to turn the engine" they say... So I land and feel really good about myself...and as I pull out my cell phone to send them a text telling them how I saved a bunch of money in my geico moment... someone in the airport is saying "you know skybus just shut down." So here I am at 2 in the morning still looking for a flight home. Nothing under 800. So I have to DRIVE all the way back home. I need a hug......... or a drink. (but then I wouldn't be able to drive 8 and a half hours back home)

yeah, we were stuck in FL but we booked with american airlines from another airport and it costs 10 tims as much, 2 hours 25 minutes notice good work
4 :
I'm sorry to hear you were one of the people that got screwed over! If it's of any help, JetBlue and US Air are offering $50 standby flights to stranded SkyBus people. So contact the closest one (at the airport you flew in to, or the closest city) and they will be able to put you on standby.

I was supposed to fly out May 22. Have so many things paid for/planned for. They almost made it to their first anniversary..

Southwest Airline question

Southwest Airline question!?
I am leaving from Columbus, Ohio (CMH) on December 26th at 5:30pm, going to Birmingham, Alabama (BHM), with a stop first at St. Louis, Missouri. If I'm doing online check-in, can I do it NOW, instead of the 24 hours before my flight? This is my 2nd time flying, and first time doing a check-in, and the first time at Columbus Airport, which I live 2 1/2 hours from. PS: Any other recommendations I'd need to know since it's been awhile since I've flown? Thanks!

Sorry, but the earliest you can check in on-line with Southwest Airlines is 24 hours before your flight. Don't forget to print your boarding pass or you may have to wait for some time to get it at the airport. Good Luck, safe flight!
2 :
I agree that you can only check-in 24 hours before your flight. I suggest you give yourself plenty of time to get to Columbus because the weather in Ohio around that time may call for snow. Here in Cincinnati, they are expecting snow on Friday and with Columbus being north of us, I would not be surprised if there is snowfall as well. I suggest you bring a good book or iPod so you have something to do on the flight. Wear shoes that are easy to put on and take off since you will have to take off your shoes before you go through security. Also make sure you put all liquids 3.4 oz or less in a sandwich bag. If you get thirsty easily, bring an empty water bottle through security and then fill it up at a water fountain since restaurants charge a lot for a bottle of water.

what do you think of this story

what do you think of this story?
my friend asked me to put this up for him (its his story) because he wouldn't take my opinion on the story. i told him there's just too many story's/movies out there that are just like his. but he wont listen and he asked me to put it on here for him. dont get me wrong, i told him it was interesting to read, but i told him its just to cliche. (oh yea, all the paragraphs/indents got messed up when i copied it into the question box) 5 Minutes Part I “What time is it?” “Nearly half past three” “What time did the plane land?” “Three O’clock” Jack arrived at LaGuardia Airport about five minutes after three. Worried he asked one of the flight attendants who have just gotten off the plane if there was any one else on bored, unfortunately the attendant said no. As being the only person in the boarding room he would assume that no one would come. He took out his cell phone to call her but all he got was her voicemail. Both his wife and daughter were missing. He asked one of the ladies at the counter to call them on the intercom to see if they could be found, like they were probably getting a drink or something, but as but all he heard was the ghostly echo’s of the women’s voice. Twenty-five minutes passed and still no one showed up. He asked if he could check the plane, to see if they have left anything, but nothing. The lady at the counter said “your wife and daughter are obviously not here. Are you sure they were on this flight?” “Yes I’m sure, she called me five minutes before the plane landed” “alright sir, well there’s nothing we can do right now but call airport security, and the police” “thank you” “well do our best”. As I walked away from the counter I felt the chills run down my spine. I got in my car and headed back to my house in Manhattan. I drove through the Queens-Midtown tunnel to my apartment at Columbus Circle in the Times Warner Center. I packed my car below in the parking garage and took the elevator up to the five storey glass lobby, and then I took another elevator up to the 39th floor, and headed for my room. Room 493 N. I unlocked the door and walked inside. I turned on the lights and went over to the counter to put my things down. I went into the living room and looked outside to the brightly illuminated view of Columbus circle, Central Park and the Northeastern skyline of Manhattan. I walked over to the kitchen and reached for the phone wondering who I should call, the police? The airport? Or…who? I took the phone over to my chair. I was keeping my self quiet for a while. The only noise that could be heard was the obnoxious sound of car horns honking, the wind and the buzzing noise of the phones dialing tone. Before I could even think of who to call, the doorbell rang. I got up and walked slowly walked to the door. As I opened it I looked through the crack, I saw know one. I quickly looked in the hall and still…know one. But I looked down and there laid an envelope. I brought it over to my recliner and started opening it. I pulled it out and started to read it. It said: at noon, come to the south street seaport. Ill be there waiting on the pavilion of Pier 17. I put down the letter and thought, who put this here? So I took my shower and went to bed so I can get everything off my mind. I woke up at 10 that morning. I got dressed and headed downstairs so I can go to star bucks. I walked inside to get my usual, Chocolate Hazelnut Latte. I walked to the parking garage to get my car. I got in and drove out onto Broadway. I drove through times square and quickly turned on to E. 31st. I headed towards South Street, and headed towards the south street seaport. The time was a quarter to twelve. Finally I arrived. I parked my car and put some money into the parking meter. I walked over to Pier 17, and waited at the very edge of the pier. As twelve came around there was still no one. All I heard was the sound of boats passing by, people talking, music playing, cars going past, and the humming of helicopters going by and starting. As I was about to go back to my car, some guy I was walking past bumped shoved me. I quickly turned around and the guy was gone. I quickly scanned the area around me spinning around in a 360 but no sign of the guy. So I returned to my car, but all of a sudden my phone started to ring in the name of my wife. I quickly answered. “Hello?” “Don’t leave come back to the pier!” “Who is this where is my wife?!” “Just come back to the pier go inside and at the ocean view restaurant inside you will find a package under table four.” “Where is my family!?” “Good bye…jack”. I guess I had no choice if I wanted to see my family. I went inside the pier where there was a shopping mall. I walked up to the third floor and went to the northeast side of the pier. There I saw the Ocean View restaurant and bar. I walked inside and looked under all the tables…there. I grabbed it and walked in to the bathroom. There on the box was my name in red ink Jack. I opened it and in the bo oh yea, i didn't realize it but yahoo answers cut off like, the other 10 paragraphs so if anybody wants me to, i can post the rest, but idc

I loved the suspenseful ending. I thought the beginning was a bit dry, especially the part about Jack talking with the stewardess. Also when Jack was driving around town trying to find his wife was a little bit confusing too. I would advise your friend to make some spelling corrections, also he should really cut to the action of the story. If this was my story, Jack would be coming into an old bar near the dock. Then he would get drunk and drone on about he was missing his wife and kids. Then the mysterious box would appear..

detailed question is below on airline elasticity-due 11/7/2010 by 3 P.M today pls

detailed question is below on airline elasticity-due 11/7/2010 by 3 P.M today pls?
AAirline Elasticity Do calculations. dnt research the airline industry PART 1 1.As the Midwest regional manager for American Airlines, you have recently undertaken a survey of economy-class load factors (the percentage of economy-class seats that are filled with paying customers) on the Chicago-Columbus route that you service. The survey was conducted over 5 successive months. The survey results appear in the table below. Assume that all other factors have remained constant over the 5-month period: Month American’s Price United’s Price Monthly/ Capita Income American’s Load Factor (Q) United’s Load Factor (Q) 1 $110 $112 $1,900 65 60 2 110 110 1,900 62 63 3 110 110 2,100 70 66 4 109 110 1,900 70 61 5 108 110 1,900 72 59 2.Based on the data you have collected, how responsive is your company’s load factor on the Chicago-Columbus route to your own price, income levels, and United’s price? Select appropriate months and compute elasticity values to complete the following table. Elasticity (arc) Value (1) own-price elasticity of demand for American’s economy-class seats (2) income elasticity of demand for American’s economy-class seat (3) cross-price elasticity of demand for American’s economy-class seats with respect to United’s price on the same route Hint: Elasticity here is based on ceteris paribus conditions – all other things unchanged. In fact, there should be only one pair of consecutive months that meet the “all other things unchanged” criterion for each elasticity coefficient to be calculated, and it is a different pair of months for each one. Arc or midpoint elasticity formula appears in your text. The formula is the same for all three calculations. The quantity is always the change in American’s load factor. The “price” is the price of American’s tickets (own-price elasticity), or the income (income elasticity), or the price of United’s tickets (cross-price elasticity). Questions: a.Are economy-class tickets a normal or inferior good in the Chicago-Columbus market? Explain. b.How close a competitor/substitute does United appear to be in the Chicago-Columbus market? Explain. c.Based on the survey you have undertaken, to increase your profits, should you raise your price, lower it, leave it unchanged, or is it impossible to tell without more information? (Hint: consider what will happen to total revenues (TR) and total costs (TC) if you change your price.) d.If you had conducted your survey over a period of 5 successive years, rather than over 5 successive months, would the own-price elasticity of demand for your product be larger or smaller than your estimate here? Explain. e.Now, assume that American’s own price elasticity of demand that you calculated holds true for even lower prices (in other words, assume elasticity is linear). The plane used on these flights has 310 seats. A load factor of 70 means 70% of the seats are filled. A load factor of 72 means 72% of the seats are filled. What price would it take to fill all seats? (As you do your calculations, differentiate between percent and percentage points.) PART 2 1. Additional data: •Use same assumptions and figures calculated above. The plane used on these flights has 310 seats. A load factor of 70 means 70% of the seats are filled. A load factor of 72 means 72% of the seats are filled. •Fixed costs per flight between the two cities are $20,000 per flight. •Average variable costs for a flight with 70% load factor are $10 per passenger. (Note: while fuel consumption with one passenger is infinitesimally more than for none, it does take more fuel to fly with half a load than with none, and more fuel for a full load than with half.) Marginal costs for adding passengers between 70% load factor and 100% load factor are $11 for each passenger. 2. Questions: To increase profits, what should American do? Use the same pair of observations you used to calculate own-price elasticity of demand for your price and load-factor data. a.What would be American’s profit if the price were reduced to fill the plane as you calculated in part f above? b.How much can prices fall before American should either not cut them any more or not fly? (I can think of four answers to this question, one of which was contributed by students.) c.What if putting price at the level you calculated in part f above causes sufficient demand that another flight could go, but about half full? What would you do with pricing then? d.OK, now you get to consider what United would do. What would they do? How would that affect your decisions? PART 3 Now, apply some of these lessons to your own firm or industry. You may be able to make good guesses from your current experience. If not, this is a great time to meet some of the accounting people and learn more about the organization, the products, and the challenges and opportunities. This portion does not require hard numbers.

This exercise is designed for you to spend a relatively long period of time demonstrating your understanding of the concept of elasticity. It cannot be answered without spending a considerable amount of time performing calculations, etc. For these reasons, it would be unfair for you to expect someone to to all of the work for you with an answer here. That would not help you learn, and someone else will end up doing a lot of work just to keep you from doing your own. If you need some help with getting started, and with understanding what the questions are asking for, I can help you with that. First of all, I will invite you to visit the pages in my website that cover the elasticity topics. http://economicsonlinetutor.com/Elasticity.html This should help you to understand what you need to know to answer the questions. Some hints to get you started: Make sure you use the midpoint formula. My website explains how to do that. When figuring the 3 types of elasticity, make sure, for each one, that you only use the consecutive months where factors that change the other 2 types do not change. That would be: own price elasticity, use 4 and 5 income elasticity, use 2 and 3 cross-price elasticity, use 1 and 2 For part 1: (a) a normal good would have a negative own-price elasticity; an inferior good would have a positive one. (b) a close substitute would have a cross-price elasticity greater than 1 (c) my website has a detailed explanation of the relationship between elasticity and TR (d) elasticities of all types always increase over time; elasticity measures responsiveness, time increases the ability to respond. That's as far as I am willing to go to get you started. Good luck on this. It requires you to spend your own time working on it. Since you have a short deadline for finishing this, then either your instructor expects you to already understand all of this very well before starting, or it was given to you much sooner than the time you posted it on here asking for help.

Commuting to the airport from NYC during rush hour

Commuting to the airport from NYC during rush hour ?
Hi, just looking for some opinions... I'm a student in the city and on Thursday's I have class until 5:15 in the afternoon. In two weeks I am soppossed to be getting on a plane at laguardia that is scheduled to leave at 7PM, I was wondering if I hopped in a cab right from school (around columbus circle area of NYC) if I could expect to make my flight...normally I fly from JFK and am able to take the airtrain which in total usually only takes me 20 minutes, but now I'm worried about getting to LGA because since I'd be getting into a cab at around 5:15 I'm nervous about traffic and such ... Thanks so much!

You're right to be afraid you'll not make the flight during rush hour. 23 minutes if you make all the lights, and there's no traffic, and you don't have to stop and pay a toll. I only ever did it that quick once, and I broke a few rules to do it. If you were on a motorcycle you could do it. See if you can catch the same class earlier in the day or move the flight to later.

well, it the flight has to leave at 7pm, you should be at the airport no later than 530 to get through security. You might want to think about skipping class that nigt or see if you can get a later flight.
2 :
it depends on where you're flying. if it's an international flight you need to be there at least 2 hours ahead of time. if it's domestic they recommend 1 hour. I would suggest skipping class that night or if you just bought the ticket (within 24 hours) they'll usually change your ticket for free.
3 :
You should be fine. 57th street to 59th street bridge and then the streets: right on 21st street, right at broadway, left at 33rd street, right at Astoria Blvd, ramp on the left to Grand Central Parkway, merge onto I-278W (turns slightly right and becomes GCP east, exit 7 toward Terminal B.. This is according to Google Maps and takes approx. 20 min. which it is obviously going to take longer at that time but not too much longer. speak to the taxi driver about this route and take his;/her advice if he has an alternate route that has less traffic, explain your time situation.. Edit: LGA is a domestic airport not international so no problem. I'd print out your boarding pass so you can drop off your luggage and go directly to the gate..

Question. Who here would go on a spacewalk if they had the chance?Space Adventures is taking reservations now

Question. Who here would go on a spacewalk if they had the chance?Space Adventures is taking reservations now?
Believe it or not, a company called Space Adventures(spaceadventures.com) is currently talking $980.00 reservations for orbital spacewalks. You can call 1-888-85-SPACE to be put on a reservations list. This is the same company that sent Dennis Tito(that strange looking bald guy), and Mark Shuttleworth. Spacewalks are fully operational now. They cost $33 million, and there is a guy going up monday. The guy that answered the phone told me. I have to say that the first civilians that try it have balls of steel to have the audacity to float in orbital space tethered to a cord.(First guy to do it-Alexei Leonov March '65) Talk about a thrill ride! Again, who here would have the balls to do it? WHo would have the minor balls to take a suborbital flight like Tito to the International Space station? How cool to see Columbus wasn't just whistling dixie for yourself! To speak with a Space Adventures representative call 1-888-85-SPACE...............

Southwest Airlines Connection Question

Southwest Airlines Connection Question?
I want to book a flight and I'm a little confused on what this means? It says: FLIGHT DETAILS (2 stops, includes 1 plane change) #1331 Depart Columbus, OH (CMH) 3:55 PM Arrive in Baltimore, Md (BMI) 5:10 PM #165 Change planes in Baltimore, MD (BWI) Makes one stop Arrive in Tampa Bay, FL (TPA) 9:30 PM Where do I make the second stop? This is just confusing to me. I land in Baltimore, make a plane change, take off from Baltimore, land somewhere (where they didn't bother to tell me.) stay on the plane, and then take off to go to Tampa? Is this not clear to you either? I thought it was quite vague if you ask me. Anyway, thank you for reading and please answer!

First you fly into Baltimore MD (Nice airport by the way) then you change plane to Tampa I don't think you will change Plane between BWI to Tampa bay

That information is not clear. I know you stop in Baltimore, change planes, and then fly somewhere else (same plane) and go to Tampa. Call Southwest and find this information out. Good luck!

3 :
If you think Midway is hard to get around you should go to O'hare!
4 :
You will find many helpfull staff inside the airport so don't worry =D
5 :
Try to relax nd meet some one new just for entertainment if there's any problem just call the air hostess
6 :
It doesn't matter who answers your vague, random question, the only way you'll help yourself is to just experience it and get through it. Without the advice, help, or reassurance from anyone.
7 :
Don't Be Nervous. Just ask questions on where to go. You could even talk to your parents and tell them where you are in the airport. They'll probably help and make you feel less lost. Trust me, it may be scary, but asking questions is a great help.
8 :
well if you get scared, just listen to some music and pretend like your somewhere else, or just try to sleep, and just keep thinking about how in like some amount of time you'll be at your friends house hope I helped a little! :-)
9 :
You should check with the airline and see if you are young enough to qualify for their children flying unattended service. My step son is 12 and he was flying from Alberta to Ontario and they had a flight attendant who escorted him from his mother to the plane and stayed with him on the flight and then escorted him from the plane to his father. He never had to be alone and they helped him through security and helped him with his bags and everything.
10 :
Unless things have changed a great deal very recently, at 13 years old, you should be flying in what's termed an "unaccompanied minor" status. Under this program, you are formally turned over to the airline by your parent(s). Once that happens, the airline is responsible for you throughout the flight to your destination. Once you arrive at Chicago, it's the airline's responsibility to only turn you over to the care of a parent or another adult designated (in writing) by your parents. That person, even if it's a parent, will have to be able to prove their identity to the satisfaction of the airline before you will be released to them.
11 :
Even though the airport may be huge, you'll only be seeing a very small portion of it. Let the flight attendant on board know you're flying alone, buy the Unaccompanied Minor service if you'd like, and ask for help when you get to your destination. There are plenty of employees whose job it is to make sure you get where you have to go.

Try flying to San Jose, Southwest may fly there. The town is a bit remote down the Pacific Coast Highway. A b&B may be your best choice; also check hotels in Monterey, Carmel, and San Simeon by the Hearst Castle.
2 :
Your closest Major Airport would be San Jose about 120 miles north. A minor airport is Montery/Salinas about 30 miles north but this is commuter airport so you would probably have to fly into San Jose and then take a commuter into Monterey, This is the link to the Chamber of Commerce that will give you a lot of information on Big Sur

~San Jose, CA airport. ~Monterrey and Carmel are pretty cities and they are nearby. ~Will need to rent a car to drive to Big Sur.

the closest commercial airport is Monterey, but it's very small. Otherwise San Jose would be the closest airport.

I just wrote about a road trip from L.A. to Big Sur, you could check it out for fun stuff to do while you're in the area (even if you don't have time to drive all the way up from L.A.). The coastline is truly stunning, so do spend at least part of your time driving Pacific Coast Highway. There aren't really "cheap" places to stay up in Big Sur but Deetjen's is somewhat reasonable and they have EXCELLENT food! And here's my article... http://wehow.ehow.com/how_2021012_trip-up-pacific-coast-highway.html
6 :
Big sur is located approximately halfway between San Jose & San Luis Obispo. So either would be an option. But be prepared to drive 100 miles one way from either spot. Big Sur is a very remote area on the california coast. Salinas is technically the closest airport, but I don't think they have commerical flights into that area. I believe it only caters to single engine and twin engine aircraft and helicopters. Monterey has a very tiny airport that does have commerical flights going in on Delta, America West, etc. but be prepared to pay through the nose and to stop a lot. There are no direct non-stop flights to Monterey.

There is no airport in Big Sur itself. I just went there this weekend. It is about a 2 hour drive from the San Francisco airport along beautiful coastal highway. just put cheap flights into search. I like yahoo search.

I would highly recommend both hotwire and priceline, with cheaptickets comping in a close third. I've searched around for airfare quite a bit, and these three sites usually ring true as the cheapest. Other than that, I'd go to sites like igougo.com, travelzoo.com, or bookingbuddy.com. These sites offer searches of multiple online airfare websites, making it easier and less time consuming to compare prices. As for when to buy, I usually go to farecast.com. They pretty accurately predict when a good time to buy a flight would be based off of past and current trends, etc. It's pretty useful. Another site I've found handy is rightflight.org. They did a bunch of research on the various airfare sites to see which sites are usually the cheapest. They also have a list of most of the airfare sites on their webpage, which can be pretty handy in and of itself. Hope this helped!
5 :
Southwest.com- Starting October 23 they have flights from $73 each way, making a round trip ticket $181. http://southwest.com/cgi-bin/lowFareFinder?#RETURN_calendar Using Smartfares.com, I found a flight on Continental Airlines for $126, but it is $220 after taxes. Using continental.com, I found fares for a total of $188. http://www.continental.com/web/en-US/apps/booking/flight/searchResult1.aspx?SID=EF97E1FCBC574735AB1CBBFC673D1B5F It really depends on the dates you are planning on going, airlines pricing changes a lot from day to day.

My flight leaves Ontario, Ca Snday at 4:30 pm to Salt lake city, then to LAX, then to Columbus. As you can see its going to be a very long day. US Airways has always been relatively affordable. And they fly through Roanoke, if I recall correctly. Delta also flies through there, and they can be decent in price too. It really depends, though, on other factors. How flexible are you? When are you leaving? Either way, I would book a flight with the airlines directly, rather than using a middle man like expedia or orbitz or the like. It's always going to be cheaper to buy things directly as opposed to going through a middle man.
2 :
Very expensive, unless flying before March 25th! Or fly from DAY/Dayton with DL/Delta! Try: http://www.cheapair.com/ http://farecast.com/ http://www.farecompare.com/ http://www.airfarewatchdog.com/ http://www.kayak.com/
3 :
Roanoke is not currently served by a low-cost carrier. You can try different travel websites to see what the prices are for different airlines. If you are flexible, you can also try to fly to an alternative airport and drive to Roanoke. One of my friends flew to Lynchburg and drove to Roanoke.
4 :
Skybus isn't even that cheap it's a ripoff, actually. Misleading at best. You could try Southwest or AirTran, but honestly, I find the best airfares on USAirways, American Airlines and Delta.
5 :
Try flexible hours and dates. Also, the flights called "red eye" are cheaper and the planes usually are half full. It is called red eye because they depart at midnight or a little before or after. Check that time. I love it because the plane is silent. Everybody is either reading, or sleeping.

I can't seem to get a direct flight there! Are there any hotels in the area that would be close enough to the army base that I wouldn't have to rent a car? Should I just drive down? (I live in NJ- should take about 17 hrs)

Atlanta to Columbus is an easy drive. Atlanta airport is near I-85 south which will take you directly to Columbus. Less than 2 hours. Columbus has plenty of good hotels. Use Mapquest to get directions. Use Travelocity, Hotels.com or the like to find a hotel. Should be easy.

First things first: congratulations on your very brave friend and to you for supporting him! Now - it is a very easy drive from Atlanta straight down I-85 probably about 45 min, an hour at the most. You can take one of the smaller planes into the Columbus airport but it will probably be quite expensive. Sometimes there is a 'hospitality hotel' on bases that traveling soldiers and guests can stay in. When my daughter got married on Hunter Army Air Base in Savannah, she was able to reserve rooms for family members. Check out www.benningmwr.com/lodging31905.htm I can't remember any hotels right at the reservation, but there are quite a few of the usual Popular Hotels in Columbus * Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott * Hampton Inn * Marriott Columbus * Residence Inn by Marriott * Hilton Garden Inn * Wingate by Wyndham * The Rothschild Pound House * Wyndham Garden Hotel * Sleep Inn * Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Columbus, GA Good luck in your travels and give my very best to your friend.

Who is The Most Influential Man in History

Who is The Most Influential Man in History ?
The following is from Michael Hart's book and lists Prophet Muhammad as the most influential man in History. A Citadel Press Book, published by Carol Publishing Group Ranking of the twenty from the list of 100: Prophet Muhammad Isaac Newton Jesus Christ Buddha Confucius St. Paul Ts'ai Lun Johann Gutenberg Christopher Columbus Albert Einstein Karl Marx Louis Pasteur Galileo Galilei Aristotle Lenin Moses Charles Darwin Shih Huang Ti Augustus Caesar Mao Tse-tung -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MUHAMMAD, No. 1 The 100, a Ranking of the Most Influential Persons in History by Michael H. Hart My choice of Muhammad to lead the list of the world's most influential persons may surprise some readers and may be questioned by others, but he was the only man in history who was supremely successful on both the religious and secular levels. Of humble origins, Muhammad founded and promulgated one of the world's great religions, and became an immensely effective political leader. Today, thirteen centuries after his death, his influence is still powerful and pervasive. The majority of the persons in this book had the advantage of being born and raised in centers of civilization, highly cultured or politically pivotal nations. Muhammad, however, was born in the year 570, in the city of Mecca, in southern Arabia, at that time a backward area of the world, far from the centers of trade, art, and learning. Orphaned at age six, he was reared in modest surroundings. Islamic tradition tells us that he was illiterate. His economic position improved when, at age twenty-five, he married a wealthy widow. Nevertheless, as he approached forty, there was little outward indication that he was a remarkable person. Most Arabs at that time were pagans, who believed in many gods. There were, however, in Mecca, a small number of Jews and Christians; it was from them no doubt that Muhammad first learned of a single, omnipotent God who ruled the entire universe. When he was forty years old, Muhammad became convinced that this one true God (Allah) was speaking to him, and had chosen him to spread the true faith. For three years, Muhammad preached only to close friends and associates. Then, about 613, he began preaching in public. As he slowly gained converts, the Meccan authorities came to consider him a dangerous nuisance. In 622, fearing for his safety, Muhammad fled to Medina (a city some 200 miles north of Mecca), where he had been offered a position of considerable political power. This flight, called the Hegira, was the turning point of the Prophet's life. In Mecca, he had had few followers. In Medina, he had many more, and he soon acquired an influence that made him a virtual dictator. During the next few years, while Muhammad's following grew rapidly, a series of battles were fought between Medina and Mecca. This was ended in 630 with Muhammad's triumphant return to Mecca as conqueror. The remaining two and one-half years of his life witnessed the rapid conversion of the Arab tribes to the new religion. When Muhammad died, in 632, he was the effective ruler of all of southern Arabia. The Bedouin tribesmen of Arabia had a reputation as fierce warriors. But their number was small; and plagued by disunity and internecine warfare, they had been no match for the larger armies of the kingdoms in the settled agricultural areas to the north. However, unified by Muhammad for the first time in history, and inspired by their fervent belief in the one true God, these small Arab armies now embarked upon one of the most astonishing series of conquests in human history. To the northeast of Arabia lay the large Neo-Persian Empire of the Sassanids; to the northwest lay the Byzantine, or Eastern Roman Empire, centered in Constantinople. Numerically, the Arabs were no match for their opponents. On the field of battle, though, the inspired Arabs rapidly conquered all of Mesopotamia, Syria, and Palestine. By 642, Egypt had been wrested from the Byzantine Empire, while the Persian armies had been crushed at the key battles of Qadisiya in 637, and Nehavend in 642. But even these enormous conquests, which were made under the leadership of Muhammad's close friends and immediate successors, Ali, Abu Bakr and 'Umar ibn al-Khattab, did not mark the end of the Arab advance. By 711, the Arab armies had swept completely across North Africa to the Atlantic Ocean There they turned north and, crossing the Strait of Gibraltar, overwhelmed the Visigothic kingdom in Spain. For a while, it must have seemed that the Moslems would overwhelm all of Christian Europe. However, in 732, at the famous Battle of Tours, a Moslem army, which had advanced into the center of France, was at last defeated by the Franks. Nevertheless, in a scant century of fighting, these Bedouin tribesmen, inspired by the word of the Prophet, had carved out an empire stretching from the borders of India to the Atlantic Ocean-the largest empire that the world had yet seen. And everywhere that the armies conquered, large-scale conversion to the new faith eventually followed. Now, not all of these conquests proved permanent. The Persians, though they have remained faithful to the religion of the Prophet, have since regained their independence from the Arabs. And in Spain, more than seven centuries of warfare, finally resulted in the Christians reconquering the entire peninsula. However, Mesopotamia and Egypt, the two cradles of ancient civilization, have remained Moslem, as has the entire coast of North Africa. The new religion, of course, continued to spread, in the intervening centuries, far beyond the borders of the original Moslem conquests. Currently it has tens of millions of adherents in Africa and Central Asia and even more in Pakistan and northern India, and in Indonesia. In Indonesia, the new faith has been a unifying factor. In the Indian subcontinent, however, the conflict between Moslems and Hindus is still a major obstacle to unity. How, then, is one to assess the overall impact of Muhammad on human history? Like all religions, Islam exerts an enormous influence upon the lives of its followers. It is for this reason that the founders of the world's great religions all figure prominently in this book. Since there are roughly twice as many Christians as Moslems in the world, it may initially seem strange that Muhammad has been ranked higher than Jesus. There are two principal reasons for that decision. First, Muhammad played a far more important role in the development of Islam than Jesus did in the development of Christianity. Although Jesus was responsible for the main ethical and moral precepts of Christianity (insofar as these differed from Judaism), St. Paul was the main developer of Christian theology, its principal proselytizer, and the author of a large portion of the New Testament. Muhammad, however, was responsible for both the theology of Islam and its main ethical and moral principles. In addition, he played the key role in proselytizing the new faith, and in establishing the religious practices of Islam. Moreover, he is the author of the Moslem holy scriptures, the Koran, a collection of certain of Muhammad's insights that he believed had been directly revealed to him by Allah. Most of these utterances were copied more or less faithfully during Muhammad's lifetime and were collected together in authoritative form not long after his death. The Koran therefore, closely represents Muhammad's ideas and teachings and to a considerable extent his exact words. No such detailed compilation of the teachings of Christ has survived. Since the Koran is at least as important to Moslems as the Bible is to Christians, the influence of Muhammad through the medium of the Koran has been enormous. It is probable that the relative influence of Muhammad on Islam has been larger than the combined influence of Jesus Christ and St. Paul on Christianity. On the purely religious level, then, it seems likely that Muhammad has been as influential in human history as Jesus. Furthermore, Muhammad (unlike Jesus) was a secular as well as a religious leader. In fact, as the driving force behind the Arab conquests, he may well rank as the most influential political leader of all time. Of many important historical events, one might say that they were inevitable and would have occurred even without the particular political leader who guided them. For example, the South American colonies would probably have won their independence from Spain even if Simon Bolivar had never lived. But this cannot be said of the Arab conquests. Nothing similar had occurred before Muhammad, and there is no reason to believe that the conquests would have been achieved without him. The only comparable conquests in human history are those of the Mongols in the thirteenth century, which were primarily due to the influence of Genghis Khan. These conquests, however, though more extensive than those of the Arabs, did not prove permanent, and today the only areas occupied by the Mongols are those that they held prior to the time of Genghis Khan. It is far different with the conquests of the Arabs. From Iraq to Morocco, there extends a whole chain of Moslem nations united not merely by their faith in Islam, but also by their Arabic language, history, and culture. The centrality of the Koran in the Moslem religion and the fact that it is written in Arabic have probably prevented the Arab language from breaking up into mutually unintelligible dialects, which might otherwise have occurred in the intervening thirteen centuries. Differences and divisions between these Arab states exist, of course, and they are considerable, but the partial disunity should not blind us to the important elements of unity that have continued to exist. For instance, neither Iran nor Indonesia, both oil-producing states and both Islamic in religion joined in the oil embargo of the winter of 1973-74. It is no coincidence that all of the Arab states, and only the Arab states, participated in the embargo. We see, then, that the Arab conquests of the seventh century have continued to play an important role in human history, down to the present day. It is this unparalleled combination of secular and religious influence which I feel entitles Muhammad to be considered the most influential single figure in human history. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The following is from Michael Hart's book and lists Prophet Muhammad as the most influential man in History. People like Gandhi and Confucius, on one hand, and Alexander, Caesar and Hitler on the other, are leaders in the second and perhaps the third sense. I own and I've read that book. He gives a good, historical reason for listing Mohammed #1. From a purely historical standpoint, he's correct. But if we believe Jesus is God, of course, he's totally off-base.
5 :
So, you have a few opinions. Everyone has opinions. Unfortunately you have jumped to the conclusion that if something is recorded in a book, that somehow that makes it true. I can show you more books that disagree-so who is the most influential man in history?
6 :
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
7 :
How about a little pragmatism: My father; his father; his father; his father... Side note: Pragmatism is becoming very popular in America, I am not sure I am pleased with that.

I don't think so. I believe it is perfectly normal to do that. Friends do that to you if your on a long trip or something. So no it's not wierd.
2 :
I think it would a good act on your apart. It is not unnatural to be genuinely concerned with someones health while disregarding love or other gestures of intimacy. Suppose his seat was beside a single mother with two crying infants, and he is frustrated beyond words. Reading your text of concern might put some smile back on his face. He may think he made an impression on you, you can let him think all he wants until his heart contends. But even if it isn't at least he knows your concerned about his return flight, perhaps when one day you are logging your flight hours he will remember to return the favor :)

how to book military flights

how to book military flights?
I will be needing to book a flight to go to my husbands graduation for November 30, 2010 through December 3, 2010 and I will be leaving from Dayton, OH to Columbus, GA and i will have an 1 month old infant baby with me, how do i go about booking a flight with my military card? Your answers are greatly appreciated. Thank you *military id

Military card? What do you mean? Edit-- You book a flight with your credit card. Not a military ID. Call the airlines or go to their online site and book a flight from those two locations for the days needed. This is not a military matter. Edit-- Are you talking about Space flights? Don’t even bother. It is space as available with random times of flight. No guarantee you will get a seat and I doubt any are leaving out of your area of Ohio. People in the military and their dependents tend to fly on commercial airlines.
2 :
A military flight would be space available only on a military aircraft. I doubt there are flights leaving Dayton and getting to GA. It would be way more trouble than its worth. Im not sure spouses can go that route unaccompanied. If you mean getting a military discount on a commercial airline, its just for service members as far as I know.
3 :
Why the hell are you trying to get a space A flight to a graduation? You want to get there right? Well don’t even try to take a Space A flight. The chances of you even finding a military transport heading between those two locations on those dates is slim to none. You need to buy a ticket. Go to a ticket site or the commercial airlines website and purchase your ticket. You can also get a rental care too at the same time while getting the ticket. Traveling is going to be your responsibility, not the military's.
4 :
1. Determine which airline you want to fly. Recommend you choose the one which gets you closest to Columbus and uses the least number of connections. 2. Call the airline and request reservations. 3. Ask them for a military discount. Note: they are not required to provide one. 4. Book flight and use credit card to pay for it.
5 :
Space A will not be an option at all for you to fly to his graduation. You will need commercial flight but don't have to pay for the child. You can book it online or go to a travel agent and pay for it by credit card. You then show your ID whether it is Military or DL today.
6 :
space a is mainly for military members and their families overseas...its not for use within the united states you are going to have to pay out of pocket for a flight
7 :
you can not travel space A in the Continental USA like you can overseas. only military can. listen to everyone here. find an airline going your way and make reservation and pay with credit card or cash. space A is not an option.
8 :
you don't. you cannot fly AMC without your sponsor. you can only fly commercial and a military ID is not worth anything other than as a form of ID when you go through security.

leave at 2:30pm

It takes me about 2 hours to drive from the Columbus Zoo to my house. You'll be headed in the opposite direction of the majority of the rush hour traffic in Cleveland. The airport is geographically in Brook Park which is southwest of Cleveland and the rush hour traffic heads south. I would leave at 2:30PM at the latest to be safe. Have a good trip!
4 :
leave at 2:15 pm cause it takes 2 hours to go from Columbus to Cleveland and traffic is not bad coming north it's all going south at that time

Changing terminals in O'Hare

Changing terminals in O'Hare?
I'm flying from Columbus, OH to Chicago to catch a flight to London. I have to change terminals, but I only have an hour and a half between flights. Is this enough time? Or do I need to see if I can get to O'Hare earlier? I'm mainly concerned about security time for the International terminal. I'm flying on a Wednesday afternoon, so I'm hoping it won't be peak time. I'm flying American into Chicago and flying British Airways to London.

What airline are you flying on.? It makes a difference. If your on UA or US Airways you should be fine if you take the tram and your inbound flight is on time. If your on AA you will leave out of therminal 3 on the L concourse so you won't have much of a hike.
2 :
It will be close but you should make it. BTW are you certain you have to go to the International Terminal?? If u are on American or United, those international flights leave from the same terninal you are arriving at. Of course if you are transferring to a different airline you should get to the ATS system as soon as possible
3 :
You should have enough time as long as your flight is not majorly delayed. O'Hare can be congested but 90 minutes should be enough time to get off the plane and connect to your next flight.

just sit down, buckle up and listen to instructions, take off and landing you have a sense of motion, once you are in the air you see little but clouds and you have no sense of forward motion, just the buzzing of the engines, if you hit rough air its like driving on a gravel road, you will be fine.
2 :
Well basically its like being in a very long bus ride. U will b served food and beverage, of course. U will b asked to buckle up when taking off and landing or when there are turbulances. Unless u got air sick, everything should b fine

One my first ever plane trip I went international ( came here to Australia ) It was easy felt like being in a big bus ( without looking out the windows mind you ..lol ... ) if your really nervous don't look out the windows .. I did it was mind blowing to see the Australian gold coast as we were coming into land yours is a short trip .. get yourself a pack of gum and chew a couple of pieces on take off and then again on landing it will help stop your ears from making popping sounds ... Make sure you tell the attendants that its your first time .. they will go out of their way to make you feel comfortable ... Good luck with the trip ....you can do it !!!

Don't worry about it. I know that seems hard not to, but the more you worry, the scarier it'll be. When you taxi, you barely feel the plane move at all. At this point the cabin crew will tell you all you need to know about what to do in case of emergencies and such. When the plane prepares for liftoff, it starts to go really fast down the runway, and then within 45 seconds you are up in the air. Things may seem a little wobbly at first, but that's just because of moving through the different altitudes. Your ears will pop as you climb through the altitudes also. (chewing gum, drinking something, swallowing, or yawning will alleviate the pressure.) Once you are in the air, things will feel smooth. You will hear the humm of the engines, but that's normal, nothing to worry about. I actually find it relaxing. If there is turbulence, you might feel the plane wobble a little bit, but remember, planes are designed to withstand this, so take a deep breath and try not to think about it. When you are approaching landing, your ears will pop as you descend through the altitudes (remember: chewing gum, drinking something, swallowing, or yawning will alleviate the pressure). You will feel the plane slow down and the cabin crew will prepare you for landing. When the plane touches down it kind of feels like a short jolt, and then you hear them cut the engines off and the plane slows down pretty fast. From there, the plane will taxi to either the gate or the designation where a bus will pick you up. You wait for the plane to decompressurized a few moments before they start letting the passengers out. That was your flight. Hope you have a good one, and since it's so short, it'll be over and done with before you know. To entertain yourself: - Bring along a few book, magazines, puzzles (such as crosswords or Sodoku if you like those). - Bring along an iPod, MP3 player, or CD player to listen to music. - A laptop is good to have as you can play games on it, connect to the internet, and get any work done that you may have. - Try talking to the people next to you. Sometime you will meet some really interesting people, and forge friendships. Be sure to wear comfy clothes so you can relax and enjoy the flight. For information on what is and is not allowed on the plane go to the TSA website at: http://www.tsa.gov/ Good luck!
